    Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak announced yesterday that a Projek Perumahan Rakyat 1Malaysia (PRIMA) or 1Malaysia people’s housing project would be developed on a piece of land at the Sungai Besi airbase in Kuala Lumpur.

He said the government has discussed the matter with several companies, such as SP Setia, Sime Darby and Putrajaya Corp, to develop the project, dubbed PRIMA, on a social business concept.
“It should be a very convenient, large area, and it’s going to be impactful.
“Imagine the (highly rated) area being turned into an affordable housing area for the rakyat (people),” he said in an interview over Radio One FM at Sri Pentas here.
The one-hour programme, hosted by Jack Yap Chaun Ming, Nicholas Ong Sea Wei and Jane Ng Meng Hui, was also aired live on ntv7.
Najib’s son, Nor Ashman, also appeared on the show.
Najib said the concept of the PRIMA development was such that the developer would not make a profit because the land was provided by the government.
“They (developers) are not there to make money; they are there to provide affordable, quality housing for the rakyat. That’s why they have to present to us a business module and cost for the project. We will do a business analysis to make sure that they will not make money,” he said. — Bernama
