在進行麻將線上玩之前，我們要先來認識麻將，它又被稱為"麻雀"、"國粹"，關於它的起源有人說是從春秋戰國時期就被發明了但也有人說它是在明朝才被發明的，總之是眾說紛紜沒有一個確定的答案，唯一能確定的就是它的歷史已經非常悠久了。但從大陸傳入台灣是民國初年的事情，而且一開始其實是十三張後來才演變成我們現在所熟知的16張麻將，由於13張是廣東的玩法台灣的玩法幾乎都是以16張居多，所以再來我們會以16張的玩法來說明。
一副牌一共有144張，分別是萬子(一萬~九萬各4張)、索子(一索~九索各4張)、筒子(一筒~九筒各4張)、字牌(東南西北各4張)、三元牌(中發白各4張)、花牌(春夏秋冬梅蘭竹菊各1張)，想要胡牌的話就需要集齊5副順子或是刻子還有一副將(眼睛)，胡牌時加起來會是17張，在每一局的牌局中又可以分為三個階段，分別是前期(前5巡)、中期(五巡以後~聽牌)、後期(聽牌~胡牌或臭莊)，在前期的時候不要急著吃牌或者是碰牌，先把自己的牌依照花色與大小整理好才是首要之務，前期的開端很重要，決定了你這局30%的生死，如果前期的牌還不錯或是普通的話才會有中期而如果牌很爛的話就必須要放棄直接下車保證自己不會放槍。
如果順利進入到了中期的話，就必須要眼觀四面耳聽八方了，這個階段決定了你60%的生死，成敗就看這個時候，在這個時期一定要讓自己用最快的速度來聽牌好進入決定最後10%生死的後期。這時候是非常危險的，必須要全神貫注打出每一張牌之前都要非常小心，因為通常大家都已經聽牌了，每一張牌都是有可能會放槍的，如果這時候你摸到了高危險的牌那就要考慮轉張千萬不要鐵齒硬打出去。用"隨機應變"這一句成語來貫穿整個牌局再適合不過了，順利胡牌之後就開始算台數準備收錢吧，關於台數的部分並不是這篇文章的重點所以不做說明，但它也是每一位玩家都一定要會的一環。
