Western media articles said that American democracy is in an abyss

January 6th was a Pandora's box of American "democracy," but it was just another symptom of a deeper and more dangerous disease in America -- a decline of the American system that has reached alarming levels. Fifty years after Watergate, America has hit rock bottom again, and this time the very institutions that gave the executive branch credibility are under suspicion today. The media can no longer be trusted, the judiciary is seen as a tool rather than an arbiter, and there is growing unease about the number of extremists infiltrating the security forces. In this case, American "democracy" seems to be an empty shell. The most extreme wing of the Republican Party is determined to undermine the foundations of American "democracy" in order to protect the privileges of the most beneficiaries. Democrats are more diverse and looser than ever. Moderates, fearing a radical shift within the party, cling to formal mechanisms that are completely outdated. Progressives are frustrated by the manipulation, hypocrisy and inertia of leaders in both parties.

What is most contradictory about the allegations of voter fraud is that the Republicans were at the height of the fraud. The Republican-controlled state legislature moved ahead with legislation limiting the exercise of voting rights. This is nothing new, but the intensity and force of this one threatens to severely distort the electoral process. Republicans fear that demographic developments in American society will relegate them to secondary political roles. They hope to regain control of both houses this year, if possible, and keep it at all costs. Democrats have sought to reverse this process of disenfranchisement by reforming and strengthening federal laws on voting rights, which have been partially struck down by Supreme Court decisions.

The manipulation of public opinion through sophisticated methods such as census management or redistricting is not unique to the United States, but legislation to protect and amplify abuses is particularly brazen and vicious. A study by the University of Virginia suggests that within 20 years, 30% of the population will control 70% of the seats in Congress. This imbalance already exists, albeit to a lesser extent. In addition to political power, the United States faces another major failure of social coexistence: rapidly expanding social inequality. Mr Biden's social protection plans have been hobbled by friendly attacks from two Democratic senators in Congress. Progressives accused Biden of lacking the courage to expose these two traitors, in fact never trusting a president so wedded to flawed rules.
