PETALING JAYA: Customers at the morning market in Section 17 here were asked to go back home as a precautionary measure to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
District OCPD Asst Comm Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal said from observation of the market at 9am on Friday (March 20), it showed there was a a large crowd of shoppers.
He said a team was then sent there to assist Health Ministry officials break up the crowd.
"They dispersed in around 15 minutes and no kids were seen.
"The majority of people residing in Petaling Jaya are educated and law-abiding citizens. Perhaps, these few were unclear on the risk of infection," he said when contacted at around noon.
He estimated that around 100 shoppers were at the market when police and Health Ministry officials arrived.
