Utar achieves new accolade
KAMPAR: Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) has added another mark of recognition to its list of academic achievements by being named one of the “top three Malaysian universities in terms of number of citations per paper” in 2015.
The ranking focuses on the performance of the papers an institution produces that are indexed in journal database Scopus, and was released by global higher education analysts QS Quacquarelli Symonds’ Intelligence Unit.
Utar council chairman Tun Dr Ling Liong Sik said out of 104 public and private universities in the list, the university was ranked third in having the most-cited publications by international and local researchers last year.
“We were notified of our ranking in the list just a few weeks ago, and this is our first time achieving such a high ranking for Malaysia.
“I would like to congratulate all the staff and students who have tirelessly churned out quality research.
“This shows that the information we produce is substantial and holds more value to others looking to research on similar topics,” he told reporters after attending the 12th Malaysia Festival of the Mind (Perak) here yesterday.
Ling said Universiti Sains Malaysia topped the list and Universiti Malaya was in second place.
Utar acting vice-president Prof Dr Choong Chee Keong was impressed with the significant impact their findings would have on the relevant industries.
“We participate in this listing done by QS by publishing our research papers in Scopus every year, and generating a report based on the citation notifications we receive from the Scopus database.
“For a researcher, quality and quantity are equally important. We could be publishing 20 research papers a year, but citations are what make our papers valuable.
“It is not easy to achieve such a high ranking for having citations per paper, excluding self-citations. We are very proud of this,” he said.
Choong added that the criteria QS took into consideration included academic reputation, employer reputation, and faculty-to-student ratio. |

最近我知道一位Senior去了美国Purdue University就读Master
Purdue University Rankings:
ARWU - 63
QS World - 92
Times World - 113
U.S. News & World Report Global - 72
排名比马大还要高
所以，说明了拉曼大学文凭没问题
既然美国的大学都接受了，还有哪里不被接受呢？ |

我在德国，也拿过拉大的文凭给德国的政府考核，他们是承认的。至少机械工程是承认的。 |
