Integrate (cosx)^3 w.r.t. x.
Integrate (cos x)^3 dx
= Integrate [ (cos x)^2 . cos x ] dx
= Integrate { [1 - (sin x)^2] . cos x } dx
= Integrate [cos x - cos x(sin x)^2] dx
HINTS: Int f'(x)[f(x)]^n dx= [f(x)]^(n+1) / (n+1) + c
= sin x - sin³x/ 3 + c
= (3sin x - sin³x) / 3 + c
= [3sin x - (sinx)(sinx)^2 ] / 3 + c
= [3sin x - (sinx)(1-(cosx)^2 ) ] / 3 + c
= [2sin x + (sinx)(cosx)^2 ) ] / 3 + c
= (sin x)[2 + (cosx)^2 ] / 3 + c
= (sin x)[ (cosx)^2 + 2 ] / 3 + c
or
= (1/3)*cos(x)^2*sin(x) + (2/3)*sin(x) + c |
