正确，不错！

had = 吃 是【动词】/过去式
过去一般时/simple past)，要用过去的助动词 did 来问。

第 1 句，看答案揭晓，第 2 句 是没错，但意思改了一些....

You didn't know that? (“你不知道吗？”)   
You didn't know that? : 这是陈述句，不是疑问句。陈述句（statement）加上问号是错误的。

(2)We went for a trip to --- waterfall
at/on the weekend.

如果我告诉你： I went to the waterfall，你知道我所说的瀑布是我们常去的那个瀑布，是指定的瀑布，所以 the 不可删除。

答案揭晓：

(1) Tom had a car accident last night. Did not you know that?
=> Tom had a car accident last night. Did you not know that? /Didn't you know that?
(当然 Did you know that? 也正确，但两者含义不一样）

Did not you know that? 应该改为：
Did you not know that? 或
Didn't you know that?

如果你去查字典，就知道 not 其实只是一个【副词】，就好象 always, often... 等，
所以通常出现在动词前： I do not like it.  not like : 【副词】【动词】
比较：
陈述句： You always get up early.   always get :  【副词】【动词】
疑问句： Do you always get up early?
我们不说： Do always you get up early?
同样道理： Do not you know that? 是不正确的。

那为什么要用过去时来问： Did you...?
因为前一个句子我已经告诉你那件意外事件，现在你当然已经知道了，所以我是在问你，在我告诉你之前（过去）你知道吗？
很多知识书籍、杂志在介绍某些知识时，都会这么问： Did you know that ...?


(2) We went for a trip to the waterfall at/on the weekend.
=> We went on a trip to the waterfall at/on the weekend.

我不清楚你们那里的老师是怎么教的，但我发现南马区有很多老师都这么教：
to go for a trip
其实应该是 to go on a trip 才对。

Cambridge Dictionary:
Do you want to go on the school trip to France this year?
I was thinking we might go on a shopping trip to Oxford on Saturday.

go for 有几个不同的定义：
1. 尝试拥有或获取某些东西： go for the gold medal
2. 选择某些东西： go for margarine
3. 喜欢或欣赏： go for war films
