Bachelor of Science (Hons) Applied Mathematics with Computing
KP/JPS(KA6034)4/10
This 3-year programme shapes its graduates into versatile and analytical problem solvers using mathematical modeling coupled with computing dexterity.
By offering subjects such as partial differential equations, ordinary differential equations and statistics, we open our students’ minds to the immense ability of mathematical models in analyzing current events. Due to the large data set that an analyst has to deal with, this programme equips students with programming skills, simulation techniques and computational problem solving techniques.
Realising the importance of training graduates in an interdisciplinary environment, this programme also offers modules in professional writing and presentation skills to enhance the students’ communication of their ideas to the world.

Career Prospects
Graduates can find employment in Banking and Investment as Risk Analyst, Quantitative Analyst/ Developer, Simulation Developer, Equity Analyst, Compliance Officer, Statistician, Inventory Strategist, Foreign Exchange Trader, Credit Analyst or Portfolio Analyst. They could also seek employment in Manufacturing as Cryptologist , QC/QA Officer, Market Researcher, System Analyst, Operations Research Analyst, Data Mining Engineer, Production Planner or Business Analyst.

Approval by MOHE
All of UTAR's programmes are approved by MOHE before it is being conducted. This is a requirement under the Private Higher Educational Institutions (Conducting Course of Study) Regulations 1997.

Full Accreditation:
This means that when a programme is fully accredited, it is recognised by MQA and the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE). Of course, we all know that most employers are more ready to employ graduates with recognised qualifications. In addition, graduates with MQA recognised degrees can continue with their post-graduate studies in the IPTAs if they so choose to.

Recognition by JPA:
A JPA recognition is needed for graduates to be accepted into government and statutory body service. With this recognition, UTAR graduates will have additional career choices as they are now eligible for employment in all the government departments and statutory bodies e.g., Treasury, Inland Revenue Department, Tourism Board, Fisheries, all the Ministries, EPF, Bank Negara etc.

When does MQA carry out the accreditation process?
Generally, a programme will be considered due for accreditation when the first cohort students are at the final or 2nd last semester of the programme. This is when the MQA Panel Assessors will carry out the audit.

Upon being satisfied that a particular programme has complied with all its (MQA) requirements, MQA will inform the institution that full accreditation has been granted to that particular programme.

Prof. Lee Seng Luan is a professor of Mathematics in the Department of Mathematics, National University of Singapore. He obtained his first degree from University of Malay and later PhD from University Albert, Canada. He was the Director of Center for Wavelet, Approximation Processing; Deputy Institute of Engineering Sciences, Singapore; Editor for Mathematics Medley, a publication of the Singapore. Mathematics Society and International Journal of Wavelets, Multi resolution and Information Processing; Managing Editor for COSMOS, the Journal of Singapore National Academy of Science; and Member of Steering Committee of the Wavelet Digest. His research interest include spline functions, wavelets, approximations, geometric modeling and information processing.

去年的某一天，UTAR邀请他来给讲座，何谓应用数学。。
他也准备了power point然后就这样子讲了几个小时。。

我们读了可以出来 做一些有关 image processing 或 crypto 的工作。。
或成为研究生再继续研究数学对于各领域的发展。。

基本上我的senior和我这批毕业生出来后，有些是 Banker, programmer, tutor, teacher, quality control(QC) 的工作 等等。。。

不过，老实说 大学毕业出来后，
什么工都得去做，我们还是正在学习的。。

除非，你真的要找应用数学与电脑计算的工作，
你真的得
找 Statistical Quality Control的工作；
Radar meteorology(应用数学的部分)；
讲师或数学老师(因为应用数学）；
有关Image processing的工作
(这个我不太清楚，因为这个是我同学的毕业论文）。


若不要，其他任何的工作都可以做的。。

等我回去 找出来当时候我所写下来的咚咚。。。再放上来。。。
