intrinsic protein has hydrophobic and hydrophilic region...which part of the intrinsic protein is hydrophobic region...the portion that embedded in the phospholipid bilayer or the portion that outside of the phospholipid bilayer??My book show an antagonistic diagram that the hydrophobic region of protein channel is embedded in the phospholipid bilayer whereas the hydrophobic region of a globular protein that embedded partially in the phospholipid bilayer is outside of the phospholipid bilayer ....so..i wish someone here can teach me about that....besides that...can someone teach me what is hydrophobic attraction?? thx for those that are willing to teach me...thx a lot!!
alpha helix amino acids are mostly hydrophobic in character. Long (20 aa) sequence hydrophobic aa residues span membrane.
