After being beaten 3-1 by Arsenal last weekend, Manuel Pellegrini has decided to increase his mammoth summer spending even further by investing in a centre back. City want to bolster their defence after spending nearly £100 million on Jovetic, Negredo, Jesus Navas and Fernandinho. It was initially thought that the Citizens would procure Pepe from Real Madrid. Pepe has had his position under threat ever since Raphael Varane broke into the team last season. However, the Citizens have had a bid rejected for the Portuguese international, believed to be in the region of £20 million pounds. This has made Manuel Pellegrini look at Liverpool’s Daniel Agger as a possible alternative. Agger is also being chased after by Barcelona as their pursuit of David Luiz looks very unlikely. The Daily Star reports that City could seek a move for the Dane, a year after they pursued him for the first time. While Agger has always professed his love for Liverpool, it will be hard for him to say no to clubs of the magnitude of Barcelona and Manchester City. However, unlike fellow teammate Luis Suarez, Agger will not seek a move out of Anfield unless the club accepts an offer they can’t refuse.
领先但如果拿不出10万磅周薪也是问题。。。 Liverpool lead premiership rivals in battle to sign exciting Brazilian
Ever since Anzhi Makhachkala announced a fire sale of all their best players, Willian has been the subject of interest for many clubs in the Premier League. The Brazil attacking midfielder wanted to join an EPL club back when he was still playing for Shakhtar Donetsk. However, Anzhi remained the only club willing to bid what was required to lure him away. Less than a year after his move, the Brazilian is set to join the EPL with a number of clubs interested in his signature.
Liverpool and Tottenham have remained interested in his services for a while. Meanwhile, it is reported that Manchester City had a bid rejected for the player earlier this summer. Andre Villas-Boas has been keen on Willian ever since he managed Chelsea. However, Willian it seems would fancy a move to Anfield, with the young Brazilian saying that Liverpool are “a great club”. The Reds are reportedlyin advanced discussions with Anzhi for the skillful Brazilian.
Furthermore, the Daily Mail reports that Manchester United could join the hunt for the attacking midfielder. Moyes is desperate to bombard his midfield with some creativity and sees the Brazilian as an option. Interest from United would blow Liverpool and Spurs away, as Willian would certainly prefer the Red Devils. He hopes to establish himself in a well-known team in an attempt to break into Scolari’s squad for the World Cup. United would certainly provide that and more.

Transfer news coming in from theMirror this morning that Liverpool are on the verge of signingWillian from Anzhi for £15 million, but that Newcastle United will make a late bid to hijack the transfer of the Brazilian international.
Newcastle begin their 2013/14 Premier League season against Manchester City at the Eithad Stadium on Monday and Joe Kinnear is thought to be keen to resume talks with the 25-year-old prior to that match.
Willian is one of those players who seems to have been linked with a move to English football for a long time, with Tottenham Hotspur that first club to have been credited with an interest, while the Reds have taken up the lead this summer.
Newcastle came up against Anzhi in the Europa League season, but Willian was missing through injury following his 35 million Euros move to Russia from Shakhtar Donetsk in January.
Willian is the second Anzhi player that Newcastle have been linked with this summer, with the Russian club looking to drastically slash their wage bill, as the other was the somewhat surprising supposed interest in Samuel Eto’o.
£15m would be a very good price for a player who cost twice that six months ago and the attacking midfielder, who has won two international caps for Brazil, is a player of undoubted talent.
However, given Newcastle’s current standing in English football and a move for a striker being of a higher priority, a transfer to Liverpool looks much more likely.
