Foon Yew High School FromWikipedia, the free encyclopedia Foon Yew High School (Simplified Chinese: 宽柔中学; Traditional Chinese: 寬柔中學; Hanyu Pinyin: kuān róu zhōng xué) is a famous chinese independent high school in Malaysia.Itis the only chinese independent high school which has two campuses,onein Stulang Laut, one in Kulai. Foon Yew high school is famous ofit'sdiversed extracurricular activities, experienced teachers andit'squality of education. The current principal is Phang Lun. Foon YewHighSchool has two semesters each year. Foon Yew High School is coined according a quote in in the Doctrine of the Mean.[1]:"宽柔以教，不报无道，南方之强也，君子居之。" (English translation:"To be broadmindedandgentle in teaching and not rashly punish wrong-doing is the strengthofthe South. The Superior Man abides in this." )
[edit] History- In May 18, 1913, Foon Yew High School was founded by Huang Xichu (Chinese: 黄羲初; Hanyu Pinyin: huáng xī chū), Luo Yusheng (Simplified Chinese: 骆雨生; Traditional Chinese: 駱雨生; Hanyu Pinyin: luò yǔ shēng), Zheng Yaji (Simplified Chinese: 郑亚吉; Traditional Chinese: 鄭亞吉; Hanyu Pinyin: zhèng yǎ jí) and Chen Yingxiang (Simplified Chinese: 陈迎祥; Traditional Chinese: 陳迎祥; Hanyu Pinyin: chén yíng xiáng).
- During World War II, the school suffered heavy destruction and the school was forced to close down.
- After World War II, the school was re-constructed by Shi Liandui (Simplified Chinese: 史联对; Traditional Chinese: 史聯對; Hanyu Pinyin: shǐ lián duì).
- In 1951, the school was moved to the current address.
- In 1963, the number of students had reached 1500.
- In1980, the school implemented the entrance examination for newstudents.There were over 4000 students in the school by that time.
- In 2005, the branch school, Foon Yew-Kulai High School, in Kulai, Johor was opened officially.
