- This project, which ensures the Dieppe Plant a sustainablefuture, was made possible thanks to the incentive and to thesubstantial support and commitment provided by the French State andthe Région Haute Normandie which also involved the contribution ofDieppe Maritime.
Carlos Ghosn, Chairman and CEO of Renault: "Thisinnovative partnership with Caterham embodies a longstandingambition: the creation of a sports car with the Alpine DNA. Itcarries both opportunities for the Dieppe plant and the developmentof its historic know-how."
Tony Fernandes, Caterham Group Chairman: "Ihave not felt as excited about a new venture since I launchedAirAsia in 2001 and I want to thank Carlos Ghosn and Carlos Tavaresand everyone in our new Renault family for having the belief inCaterham Group to create this partnership. Many people doubted us11 years ago when we launched our airline and I am sure that therewill be doubters again this time, but we will not fail your trust. We know the markets we are going into and, particularly in myplayground in Asia, there is a huge opportunity to replicate theAirAsia model and give consumers access to exciting, affordableproducts that marry our interests in F1 and technology and helpmake their dreams come true."
Carlos Tavares, COO of Renault: "Our ambitionsof reviving Alpine depended on our ability to find a partner inorder to ensure the economic profitability of such an adventure.Right from the start, we wanted to place the Dieppe plant at theheart of the project. Today, through our partnership with CaterhamGroup, we can enter a new phase: the design of a vehicle thatwill embody the very essence of Alpine, a vehicle that willrekindle sporting passion once more. It could become a realitywithin the next three or four years."
Kamarudin Meranun, Caterham Group DeputyChairman: "Formula 1 was always our entry point into thecar business. Our original plans to develop a partnership withLotus were put aside in spectacular and well documented style, butnow we have a far better chance to develop Caterham Cars inpartnership with Renault, working with Caterham Technology who arealso integrally involved in this new venture. Our F1 team hasalready been working successfully with Renault Sport F1 since thestart of the 2011 F1 season and I am thrilled that now we areadding to our track partnership by joining forces with Renault onthe road. Together with Renault we have now created an opportunityfor Caterham Cars to grow into the next stage of its developmentfrom a very well respected niche brand into a serious player on theglobal motoring map."
Bernard Ollivier, CEO of Société des Automobiles AlpineCaterham: "I'm very proud of the trust placed in me byboth shareholders. The road map for each car is clear and simple:respect the DNA of both Alpine and Caterham Cars. With the passionand expertise of the staff dedicated to this project, we are sureof meeting this aim."

The objective foreach company is to launch its own vehicle in this market within thenext three to four years.
An innovative and complementary partnership as part of ajoint company

- Société des Automobiles Alpine Caterham will be able to draw uponthe expertise of Renault, Renault Sport Technologies and CTI in thedevelopment of its future products.
Shared values based on a passion formotorsports
Alpine: Jean Rédélé, pilot, businessman andautomotive pioneer, founded Alpine in 1955. Alpine's manufacturingand racing adventure started with the A106 coach based on theplatform and engine of the Renault 4 CV. The Alpine DNA is based onnimble, lightweight, high-performance vehicles with flowing lines:a formula that works well for both road and racing cars. Theever-young A110 - celebrating its 50th birthday - is probably themost iconic of Alpine's road cars. During its existence, Alpinesold 30,000 road sports cars. For several decades, it also carriedhigh Renault's sporting colours. Among other victories, Alpine wasWorld rally champion in 1973, winner of the Monte Carlo Rally in1973 and 1974 and of the Le Mans 24-hour event in 1978. Itssporting record includes many prestigious victories. Alpine ranksamong the sporting legends.
Caterham Cars: The DNA that runs through everyCaterham can be traced back to the 1950s, when its first vehicle, the Seven, was designed. Caterham Cars has inspired passion andemotion ever since. It embodies the essence of what a sports carshould be. Today, that philosophy continues to guide Caterham Cars, making 'accessible fun' a reality for sports car buyers across theglobe.
Every weekend, over a thousand competitors race Caterham vehicleson tracks around the world, from Silverstone and Brands Hatch toBahrain and Abu Dhabi. Today, building on its racing heritage and40 years of experience in road cars, Caterham Cars is able tocombine its engineering excellence with the manufacturing andproduction capabilities of Renault to create a Caterham vehicle ofeven greater potential. This new vehicle will still possess thefundamental DNA of the Seven, which remains in production inDartford, UK.
At the heart of the project: the Alpine plant in Dieppe,France
The Dieppe plant will play a central role in the partnershipbetween Renault and Caterham Group, at the heart of the sportingpassion shared by the two partners. This is where the future sportsvehicles of Renault and Caterham will be built. The project is adevelopment opportunity for the Dieppe site, from the standpointnot only of production, but also the acquisition of a prized andunique expertise. The Alpine plant in Dieppe is currently dedicatedto building the vehicles developed by Renault Sport Technologies, both production (Clio R.S.) and racing models.
The Dieppe plant, built in 1969, is the historical home of theAlpine brand which gave birth to such legendary models as theBerlinette. Its core business is the assembly of sport vehicles, the assembly and sale of motorsports cars, and the sale of spareparts for motorsports vehicles, including at sports events. Itsflexibility and ability to adapt are just two of the specificcharacteristics that enable it to produce vehicles in small runs. With a workforce of over 300 and a surface area of 76,000 m² ofwhich 36,900 m² is built up, the plant has produced more than 400000 vehicles since 1969.

Abu Dhabi Young Driver Test - Day One Yas Marina Circuit, Abu Dhabi - 6th November 2012
Driver: Giedo van der Garde
Chassis: CT01-#02
Fastest lap: 1.45. 936 (lap 56)
Total laps: 57
Giedo van der Garde: “I’m pleased with how today went. We were mainly working on aero performance, running sensors and different mechanical configurations on the car in the morning and afternoon sessions and to get the most out of them I had to drive consistently, carefully and not go for outright speed.
“I think the team’s happy with what I’ve done today and physically I feel great after running a good number of laps. After my FP1 session here in Abu Dhabi was cut short it was good to get some really decent time on track and the key thing for me is to keep developing my relationship with the team. There’s still a few tweaks we could make to the setup to suit my driving style a bit more but we have tomorrow to work on a few more setup options, as well as continuing to test parts and aero programs.”

T05 Abu Dhabi: Day 2 Report
Yas Marina Circuit, Abu Dhabi - 7th November 2012
Driver: Giedo van der Garde
Chassis: CT01-#02
Fastest lap: 1.45.106 (lap 66)
Total laps: 72
Giedo van der Garde: "It's been a great coupleof days here in Abu Dhabi and I want to thank the team for givingme the chance to drive in the rookie test yesterday and today.
"Today we ran considerably more laps than on day one. We spentthe morning running through more aero work and ran with a number ofdifferent setups that give the team a huge amount of data to workthrough that will be really useful for the last two races of theseason. In the afternoon we switched to longer runs, looking attyre management and how the car behaves on different fuel loads andI'm pleased with the progress we made. Towards the end of thesession we put soft tyres on and I had a couple of runs that werecloser to the performance runs we do in FP3 - the car had more fuelthan in quali but I'm pretty happy with where I ended up.
"Next up for me is FP1 in Brazil, another track that'll be newfor me but with the time I've had on track here, and in the otherFP1s I've done this year, I think that'll be a good session for me.I'm not doing FP1 in Austin as the team needs maximum time on trackfor the race drivers, but I'll be going to the race as ReserveDriver and I'm really looking forward to getting out there - it'sgoing to be a great week for sure."

Caterham F1 Team has today confirmed that Cyril Abiteboulhas been promoted to the role of Team Principal with immediateeffect. He will combine that role with his current responsibilitiesas CEO, a post he took up in September 2012.
Tony Fernandes, Caterham Group Chairman: "Having launched ourpartnership with Renault in Paris on Monday the plan Kamarudin andI formed over three years ago for our automotive interests has cometo fruition. The strategy for the establishment and growth ofCaterham Group has now reached the stage where we can step backfrom the day to day running of the F1 team in favour of Cyril whowill be able to dedicate himself full time to the role and workclosely with Riad to help take our automotive interests into thenext stage of their growth.
"Cyril is going to be an excellent Team Principal. He hasextensive experience in F1, he is extremely well respected and heshares our vision for what we want our team to achieve. He takesover during a season when we have not yet fulfilled our potential, but at a time when we have everything in place to help us do so.One day we will earn our seat at the top table of Formula 1 and heis the right person to take us there.
"This decision allows Kamarudin and I to focus on AirAsia andgives Riad the structure he needs to allow the various CaterhamGroup businesses to flourish under his leadership. Kamarudin and Iwill continue as Co-Chairman of Caterham Group and we now have thebest possible team in place to take our dream into its next phase.Kamarudin and I will still have an active interest in our variousCaterham companies, but we have now reached the point in the growthof the business where it makes most sense to step back.
"We have taken Caterham Group from nothing just three years ago totoday, where Caterham Cars has the platform with Renault to take itfrom a niche brand into an innovative participant in the globalautomotive market. Caterham Technology is also integrally involvedin the Renault partnership, working with Renault on the design anddevelopment of our road cars, as well as currently working with anumber of other blue-chip companies including Airbus, and they arefast being recognised as a leading player in the technology andinnovation fields. Caterham Composites is also in rude health, working with CTI on the Airbus project in addition to a variety ofother cutting-edge programs that will soon see the light of day. Insummary, Riad is now leading a group of businesses that put theCaterham name at the forefront of the technological and innovationfields across a wide range of industries."
Cyril Abiteboul, Team Principal Caterham F1 Team: "I am honouredto take over as Team Principal, now combining that role with theCEO post I took up in September 2012, and I would like to thankTony and Kamarudin for the chance to lead this team into the nextphase of its growth. We have big challenges ahead of us but theshareholders are committed and behind us to help us takesignificant steps forward over the coming years, and one daychallenge for the highest honours in F1. We have an incrediblespirit within the team and that has been created by Tony andKamarudin. This spirit, allied to a strategic vision that gives usa clear path to success, is what will keep driving us forwards andwe all look forward to the day we can make the dreams ourshareholders had several years ago come true."

T05 Abu Dhabi: Day 3 Report
Yas Marina Circuit, Abu Dhabi
Driver: Alexander Rossi
Chassis: CT01-#02
Fastest lap: 1.46.485 (lap 75)
Total laps: 86
Alexander Rossi: "It's been a great day in the car and I want tothank the whole team for giving me the chance to drive in AbuDhabi. I last drove this car in FP1 in Barcelona back in May andit's definitely come on a long way since then.
"The plan today was mostly focused on running through setupoptions. With such limited time on Fridays at a GP this was achance for us to work through a whole range of different setups andI'm sure we've helped give the team a lot of information that willcome into play at the last two races of the season.
"It's obviously not ideal that we had to end the session early, but when I boxed after my 14th run there was oil onthe garage floor so the engineers had to call the sessionover. That meant I didn't have the chance to do anyperformance runs and I'm sure if I did my laptimes would have beenclose to the race drivers, but issues like that are just one ofthose things. They'll take a proper look at what caused the problemand I'm sure it won't affect the team's preparations for Austin orBrazil.
"Despite that it's been a great day and another step in mydevelopment as a driver. The next time I'll be in a race car willbe in Jerez for the GP2 test with Caterham Racing and I'm reallylooking forward to picking up where we left off in Barcelona as thequickest car."

US Grand PrixView
Heikki Kovalainen, car 20, chassis CT01-#03: "COTA looks like agreat circuit. I've spent a day in the simulator preparing for itso I know how it flows and they've taken the same approach as wesaw in India, adding in up and downhill sections with some reallyquick corners and a couple of heavy braking zones where it shouldbe possible to pass other cars.
"I think one of the key things to how successful the weekendwill be is how the American fans take to the race. We've obviouslybeen there before and there's a lot of other racing that US fansare very passionate about, but F1 has changed since we last racedthere and we know what it takes to put on a show so I think it'sgoing to be really good.
"Aside from the race weekend it'll be good to go back to the USas I've always enjoyed myself there. Quite a few of my golferfriends either live out there or have houses in America sohopefully I can get a round or two in and have a little bit of thelifestyle they enjoy out there. It's going to be busy as we havequite a few sponsor functions, and I'm taking part in the FOTA FansForum on Wednesday evening in downtown Austin, but the only thing Ineed to make sure is that I don't put on any weight! The food inthe US is really good and I've heard they do pretty big steaks inTexas, so my physio will be keeping a close eye on how much I'menjoying myself off track!"
Vitaly Petrov, car 21, chassis CT01-#02: "I'm really lookingforward to visiting America, both for the race but also becauseit's my first ever trip to the USA and it's always been my dream togo to the States. This time I probably won't get enough time tohave a proper look around but I'm definitely going to make surethat when we come back here I have a few clear days to really seewhat it's all about.
"I think all the drivers are excited about getting on track. It's a new challenge and from what I've seen in the simulator itcould be a really special track. There's a lot of elevationchanges, a few blind corners where it's going to be tricky to findthe apex and quite a lot of the lap is high speed. From what I'veseen of our schedule the whole weekend is going to be very busy forus - we have a lot of important sponsors in America so it'll bepretty intense, on and off track, but I think it'll be one of thebest weekends of the year."
Alexander Rossi, Caterham F1 Team Test Driver: "First it'sobviously fantastic that COTA is bringing F1 back to the US and asI'm a real F1 fan at heart I'm really excited about the race comingto Austin. COTA have done an amazing job on the track. It's goingto be a great challenge for the drivers and they've also made surethe whole weekend is worth staying for, not just the sessions ontrack but the whole event.
"As our team's Test Driver I know that the main thing is thatAustin is a new circuit and the race drivers need as much time asthey can on track to prepare for qualifying and the race - as arace driver I'd want exactly the same in their position. For me theweekend will be a great chance to work with our team's partners andthe fans to show them what my world is like. I'm an ambassador forour Premium Partner GE so I'm going to be bringing their guestsright into the heart of F1, as well as taking part in events likethe FOTA Fans Forum on Wednesday night at the Hilton Hotel inAustin. It's going to be an incredible week, in the build up to therace and on race day itself, and I'm going to be working hard tohelp introduce a lot of very important people to our team and F1 asa whole."

Team Quotes
Heikki Kovalainen, car 20, chassis CT01-#3: "The firstlap we did in FP1 was on a track that probably had less grip thananywhere else I've ever driven! As we're at a new circuit that wasto be expected but the track layout lived up to expectations - it'sa proper driver's track and as it keeps evolving it's going to geteven faster which will give us a chance to really find out whatit's all about.
"In the morning session we were mainly focussed on the normal P1program, running through baseline setups and aero work and then inthe afternoon we went onto more tyre work and longer runs on bothcompounds. We need to work on improving the grip levels but I'm okwith where we ended up and with the amount of information we havefrom both sessions I think we can find more time tomorrow."
Vitaly Petrov, car 21, chassis CT01-#2: "I'mreally enjoying my time in the US! It's my first time in Americaand as soon as I arrived I spent some time walking around Austinand found it's a great city, really cool.
"In P1 We had to make a couple of minor changes to the floor butit didn't hold up the program too much and we found an OK balancerelatively early on. In the afternoon we had the first runs on themedium tyres and then put in a lot of laps on the long runs. Wedefinitely need to do some work on how we can get more heat intothe tyres and how to improve the rear of the car but we'll work onthat tonight and hopefully have a better day tomorrow."

Team Quotes
Heikki Kovalainen, car 20, chassis CT01-#3: "Weunderperformed today, it's really that simple. We went with a planthat didn't work and unfortunately both Vitaly and I weren't ableto get enough heat into the tyres to get the best out of them, ormanage the traffic well enough to get a clean lap in. Tomorrow'sanother day so now we need to regroup and have a better performancein the race than we did today."
Vitaly Petrov, car 21, chassis CT01-#2: "Qualiobviously didn't go how we wanted it to. I had traffic issues onevery lap and wasn't able to put a clean lap together, but evenwithout that we've struggled with the tyres here all weekend andthat showed today. It was bad timing for us that the HRT stopped ontrack just when Heikki and I were on our quickest laps and havingbeen stuck behind them, but you can't plan for that so we need toput today behind us and hopefully we'll be better tomorrow."

Team Quotes
Vitaly Petrov, car 21, chassis CT01-#2: "For methat was just about as much as I could get out of the car today soI'm pleased with how it went. The start was pretty crazy, everyoneon cold tyres going into turn one with a load of cars going offtrack, but I got through cleanly and as soon as my tyres came up totemperature I pulled away from the cars behind pretty comfortably. We'd planned to do just one stop and it was timed perfect, the boysgot me out quickly when we switched to the hard compound so it allwent as we wanted. The tyre degradation was also pretty low - we'dseen from the long runs on Friday that it wouldn't really be aproblem, but apart from a small vibration I had from the brakes forthe last third of the race, it was a good afternoon without anyissues."
Heikki Kovalainen, car 20, chassis CT01-#3:"That was one of those races where we probably couldn't have gotmuch more out of the car. I've had issues all weekend with gettingheat into the front tyres and it was the same again today for thefirst few laps. At the start I made up one place and then passedGlock pretty quickly and from there it was relatively easy tocontrol my pace for the rest of the race. The stop went fine, thepitcrew did a very good job today, and apart from the tyre issue,it was about as much as we could have hoped for."

Driver Quotes
Giedo van der Garde (driving FP1 in Heikki Kovalainen'scar): "This will be my final FP1 run of the season and it'son another track I haven't driven on before, but I've done theusual preparation on my simulator so I'll be up to speed quickly. It looks like it's a pretty technical track and one that everyonetells me has a fantastic atmosphere so I'm looking forward togetting out there and picking up where I left off in Abu Dhabiafter two really good days in the car."
Heikki Kovalainen, car 20, chassis CT01-#03:"Interlagos is a good place for us to end the season as it's one ofthose tracks where anything can happen. It looks like there couldbe rain every day and that'll mean picking the right strategy willbe key to performance - time the stops right and you can takeadvantage of whatever happens in qualifying or the race. The trackitself is also quite tricky. It's pretty narrow in parts and youneed to make sure you get your lines right or it's very easy tomake a mistake.
"It's also fair to say the Brazilian race has one of the bestatmospheres of the whole season. The fans are incredibly passionateabout Formula 1, they're very knowledgeable and the turn the wholeweekend into a giant party in the stands. It's pretty cool onSunday when you're on the gird and all the stands are bouncing - itreally is a cool place to race F1 cars."
Vitaly Petrov, car 21, chassis CT01-#02: "The lastrace of the season is Brazil, a track that's a good challenge andone where anything can happen. Last year I finished in the pointsand while that may not be an easy task for us this year, it's stillsomething we want to fight for. With the weather forecasts forSunday we might see rain so that could make it a really excitingend to the season right up and down the grid.
"Technically the Brazil track is pretty interesting. You need tohave really good traction to power out of the slower corners andyou need to make sure you have the setup right for the longflat-out run from the last corner, past the pits and into turn one, giving you a chance to pass other cars as you head towards thestart of another lap.

Team Quotes
Giedo van der Garde (drove FP1 in Heikki Kovalainen'scar): "That was a really good way to sign off my 2012 FP1sessions for sure. We got through a decent number of laps and Ihave to say I enjoyed myself today! The track is great, especiallywith the 2013 development tyres I was on for the first couple ofruns, and it's good to know I've helped the team get through a lotof work that will be really valuable this weekend.
"I thanked the guys at the end of the session for today and forall the work they've done to help me this season. I've reallyenjoyed working with them this year and I feel like I've learnt alot and developed well. Now it's back to the normal race weekendplan and I hope it's a good one for the team."
Heikki Kovalainen, car 20, chassis CT01-#3:"Having sat out FP1 I was back in the car for theafternoon session and it was important to get as much mileagecompleted as possible. We went through the usual program, focusingon tyre usage and setups on different fuel loads and I think itwent ok. It's a shorter lap here in Brazil than quite a few of theother circuits, but our times looked ok relative to the cars aroundus and with some more work tonight and tomorrow we should be okboth for qualifying and the race on Sunday."
Vitaly Petrov, car 21, chassis CT01-#2: "I thinkwe made some good progress in both sessions and I'm reasonablypleased with where we ended up. In the morning session we ran boththe development tyre and the prime we have for this weekend andhave a lot of very good data from both. We also tried a couple ofdifferent aero configurations which gives us options for thisweekend, particularly bearing in mind the chance of bad weather onSunday. In the afternoon we were looking at fine tuning the setupon long and short runs - we have more to do to get the best out ofthe harder of the two compounds but the car felt pretty good on theoptions and we can get even more out of them for the rest of theweekend.
"One thing that was immediately clear was how high tyre deg isgoing to be here. It's completely different to last week in Austinwhere one stop was the obvious choice - if it's dry here on Sundayit's much more likely to be two or three stops so tyre managementis going to be key."

Team Quotes
Heikki Kovalainen, car 20, chassis CT01-#3:"At the start of qualifying it was quite tricky as there was somestanding water on track in the first couple of laps and even thoughthe grip levels improved there was still less grip than in FP3. Inthe end the times kept coming down and maybe we had a chance to getinto Q2, but we can be reasonably happy with how it finished. On myfinal lap I made a couple of small mistakes, but apart from that Iwas close to getting as much as I could out of the car so now wemove on to tomorrow. The race is going to be really tight - if theforecasts are right it will be pretty tense out there but we knowwhat to do and we're looking forward to it."
Vitaly Petrov, car 21, chassis CT01-#2: "I'mvery pleased with the result today. It wasn't quite enough to getinto Q2 but in the conditions today I think we can be happy withwhere we ended up. On the first couple of laps turn four wascompletely wet so I had to make sure we could maintain tyretemperatures and keep pushing throughout the whole lap until thedry line appeared and in the end it paid off. Tomorrow's going tobe really interesting - we showed yesterday and today that the gapto the cars ahead is a bit closer here than it has been in recentraces and the way the weather's been shifting around means anythingcan happen in the race. I'm looking forward to it - whateverhappens it's going to be really good for the fans and I hope we canend the season positively."

Team Quotes
Vitaly Petrov, car 21, chassis CT01-#2: "Whatan incredible race. I'm so pleased for the whole team and I want tothank every single one of them for doing such a fantastic job inthe conditions today. Seeing what regaining tenth place in thechampionship meant to everyone when I got back to the garage wasreally special and I think we deserve it after all the hard workwe've put in throughout the whole year.
"On track it was one of the hardest races I've ever been in, butalso one of the best. I had a great start, passed a lot of cars andavoided all the problems in turn four, and from then I was pushingas much as I could as the conditions kept changing. We made theright calls today on the stops and every time I came in the boyswere perfect. The change to inters on lap 54 is I think what madethe difference today. I had a good battle with Pic until the lastfew laps but then got him into turn three and just pulled away. From there it was all about keeping it on track and when I heardthe safety car was coming out and I knew I had one lap left to goit was such a great feeling. Now we can celebrate and everyone hasearned it - all the team on track, the factory back in Leafield, our team partners and our technical partners Renault Sport F1 andRed Bull Technology."
Heikki Kovalainen, car 20, chassis CT01-#3: "I'mreally pleased for the team today and delighted that we've securedtenth place in the championship after a pretty intense race. It wasone of those afternoons when anything could have happened and Ithink it was down to really good work right across the whole teamthat got us to where we finished today.
"My race was pretty interesting. I had an ok start and missedthe problems on lap one but when we brought both cars in for thesecond stop there was an issue with my right rear that cost a lotof time and from that point I was playing catch up with the carsahead. We went onto full wets on the last stop to cover the chanceof the rain increasing but there was very little grip until thelast couple of laps on that set. Despite that it was all about thefinal result and it came good right when it mattered."
Cyril Abiteboul, Team Principal, Caterham F1 Team:"On behalf of the whole team I want to say how proud we are of thejob we've done today. It's been a tough year, one where we have notperformed at the level we want to, but today we have very goodreason to celebrate. Every driver who finished the race in suchtreacherous conditions deserves praise and both our drivers didexactly that, so they can be very proud of the job they have done. They kept their cars on track when an awful lot of incidents weregoing on around them and they took full advantage of incidents thatcost a number of other drivers the chance to finish the season instyle.
"On balance, we deserved to regain tenth place. Our results overthe whole season were better than our nearest rivals and when itmattered we were able to seize the opportunity that came our way. That is the mark of a good team and it means we head into thewinter break and next year in a positive frame of mind.
"Our shareholders, Tony Fernandes and Kamarudin Meranun, and ourteam partners have given us the backing we need to progress up thefield, and today we paid that support back in a small way bygetting it right when it mattered. We can enjoy the feeling we havetoday, but tomorrow we will be back to work, ready to come back in2013 and make the sort of progress a team in our positionshould."

r Richard Branson will serve as an AirAsia stewardess in May 2013 having arranged to honour his bet with Tony Fernandes.
The pair agreed in 2010 that whichever of their teams (then Lotus and Virgin) finished lower in the constructors' championship in their debut season, the losing owner would serve on the other's airline. Branson lost as Lotus finished 10th and Virgin 12th, but the trip was postponed in early 2011 after he injured himself while skiing.
Now, Fernandes has revealed that Branson is ready to complete his forfeit, and will do so in May with tickets for the flight set to be auctioned off for charity.
"Now here is a man with honor @richardbranson who just contacted me to honor his bet," Fernandes wrote on Twitter. "He will be an airasia stewardess in may on Airasia. 2 years late but main point he hasn't forgotten." |

Giedo's appointment to the F1 team is the natural step for theDutch driver after he spent 2012 competing with Caterham Racing inthe GP2 Series, combining his GP2 season, in which he scored sixpodiums and two race wins, with six FP1 outings for the F1team.
Cyril Abiteboul, Team Principal, Caterham F1Team: "Everyone in the team is delighted that we canfinally confirm that Giedo will be racing for us in the 2013 FIAFormula One World Championship. He has been part of our familysince early 2012 when he joined our GP2 team and was appointed asReserve Driver for the F1 team. He acquitted himself extremely wellin both his GP2 season and his six FP1 sessions, progressivelyimproving his outright pace, technical feedback and hisrelationship with his engineers and mechanics, giving us the clearjustification for promoting him to F1.
"This is the next natural step for Giedo with our team. Wecontinue to grow as a team and we are committed to giving youngtalent across the motorsport industry the chance to grow with usand this is Giedo's opportunity to show he deserves his place atthe very highest level of global motorsport. Throughout 2012I was able to fully integrate myself into the team, both throughthe FP1 sessions I ran at a number of tracks that were then new tome, and as Reserve Driver, fully embedded with the team throughoutthe season.
"Now I can continue to learn at the highest level of motorsportand show that I am ready for F1. I cannot wait to start work."

CT03, Caterham F1 Team's 2013 race car, was unveiled in thepitlane of the Circuito de Jerez, Spain, on day one of the firstofficial pre-season test. The car was revealed by the team's racedrivers Charles Pic, who will race in car #20, and Giedo van derGarde who will be in car #21 for the forthcoming season.
The 2013 car has technical features that distinguish it from itspredecessor, CT01, and it will race in an updated livery which seesthe team's green and yellow paint-scheme refreshed and lightenedfor the season ahead.
Mark Smith, Technical Director, Caterham F1Team: "CT03 is the first car we have produced in theLeafield Technical Centre so it marks an important milestone in thedevelopment of our team. The season ahead presented us with aninteresting challenge early in the design process as it is the lastyear of the current regulations before the introduction of the newengine rules in 2014. With that in mind, we decided that CT03 wouldbe an evolution of CT01 rather than a complete re-design, allowingus to focus our resources on developing areas of last year'spackage where opportunities would give us the greatest return, while also beginning work on the 2014 package.
"We have made a number of significant changes to the car thattakes it from the package that gained us 10th place in thechampionship in Brazil in 2012 into CT03. Among the most obviousare around the lower chassis where the sidepods have beensignificantly undercut to improve airflow to the rear of the car.The diffuser, engine cover and cooling exits have also seen majorchanges and there are more subtle improvements to other areas ofthe car, such as the sidepod turning vanes and the lower tea-trayarea. This is the package we will take to race one in Australia andas part of the 2013 upgrade program we will then bring new frontand rear wings and a new diffuser soon after the start of theseason.
"However, the CT03 car that starts testing in Spain on day onein Jerez is not the only visible change amongst a number of otherimportant developments at Caterham this winter. Back in Leafield,we are fast completing our own 'driver in the loop' simulator, created with the support of Dell and powered by Alienware. This isa major asset for our team that puts us on a par with any of ourcompetitors and constitutes another example of the long-term planswe are activating that will help us continue to grow and developinto the team we know we can become.
"Personally I am excited about the season ahead, and thechallenges that face us. Regardless of the resources and budgetavailable, all the teams will be racing in 2013 with one eye onnext year when the new rules may present opportunities to makesignificant gains, much greater than those available under staticrules. Our whole team is ready for its fourth season in F1 and I amsure it is going to be another thrilling championship."
Cyril Abiteboul, Team Principal, Caterham F1Team: "This is the first car we have produced since Ijoined the team so this is a proud day for me. I am very pleasedthat we have been able to allocate our resources and budgets asefficiently as possible to produce a car that will allow us toconsolidate our position in Formula One whilst also starting workon the 2014 car as early as possible.
"From the outside, the most obvious change to CT03 car is thelivery. While retaining the green and yellow paint scheme that hasbecome synonymous with our team since 2010, we have refreshed bothcolours to enhance their visibility on track and give them whatwill be, we believe, one of the best looking liveries in thepitlane.
"Driving the cars this year are Charles Pic and Giedo van derGarde, two drivers who give us a good mix of youth and experienceinside and outside Formula One. Charles and Giedo are both youngand dynamic and we expect that their enthusiasm for the sport andthe team will be fuelling our growth. Additionally, they provideclear proof of our dedication to developing young driver talent andnow, any aspiring driver who dreams of F1 can see that there is aclear route to the F1 grid under the guidance of the CaterhamDriver Development Program, the 2013 format of which will soon bepresented."
"Off track our team is in a healthy position. We are still asmall team but our stated objective is to be the most efficient ofall F1 Teams, and thanks to our determination, our scalability andour processes, there is no reason we cannot achieve this inrecognition of the ongoing investments our shareholders and teampartners make in us.
"We have partners in GE/Safran, EADS/Airbus, Dell/Intel,McGregor and Renault who are the envy of the pitlane. Ourrelationships with each of those businesses continue to develop andwe are delighted that such blue-chip brands share our vision andare an integral part of our team.
"As part of Caterham Group we are also involved in theRenault/Caterham Cars partnership, one of the most excitingprojects in the global motoring industry and one that means westart the 2013 season as one of the five car-makers on the F1grid.
"The move to Leafield was the last big piece of the jigsaw, andnow we are settled in our new, permanent home, we are in theprocess of increasing our integration level to better control thequality, cost, and lead time of our supply chain. I am confidentthat this will ultimately translate into faster laptimes to reducethe gap with the midfield cars. CT03 is the first car to be builtin Leafield and while we are realistic enough to know that we arenot going to be the fastest car on the grid, we do think we willhave one of the best looking cars in 2013. I will be working sothat one day we have both!"
Tony Fernandes, Co-Chairman, Caterham Group:"This is the first car we have produced from our factory inLeafield and the last we will build under the current regulations. The team has produced a car that is an evolution of the 2012 car, building on that platform to give us a chance of continuing to makeprogress towards the teams ahead, while also dedicating enoughresource to start work as early as possible on the 2014 car.
"For me this is going to be the story of the 2013 season - everyteam wants to be as competitive as possible this year, but withsuch fundamental rule changes next year resources and budgetsdictate that there will have to be a cut-off point in thedevelopment of the current season cars so focus can be switched to2014. We will bring updates to the car after several races and I amhappy that the plan we have for 2013 will give us the chance tofight this year, but, importantly, will allow us to take fulladvantage of the new rules in 2014.
"Having stepped up to the role of Co-Chairman of Caterham GroupI will be playing less of a day-to-day role with the team but I amdelighted that we go into our fourth season in such a strongposition. Caterham Group continues to grow and since launchingour partnership with Renault in November we have started work onthe new Alpine and Caterham Cars products which is obviously veryexciting. Caterham Composites and Caterham Technology &Innovation are also forging ahead with a number of very interestingprojects, some of which will be unveiled throughout 2013.
"I am realistic enough to know that we still have a long journeyahead of us, but the dream is steadily coming true. We haveinvested in the long-term, not taken any short-cuts and we haveeverything in place to keep moving forwards."

T01 Jerez - Day 1 report
T01 Jerez - Day 1
Circuito de Jerez, Spain - Tuesday 5th February 2013
Driver: Giedo van der Garde, car #21
Chassis: CT03-05
Total laps: 64
Best lap: 1.21.915
Giedo van der Garde, car #21, chassis CT03-05:"First it's great to be back at work and I'm pleased with how dayone on track has gone. We completed a very decent number of lapstoday without any major issues and I was pretty comfortable in thecar straight away.
"Day one is all about making sure everything in the car works asit's supposed to and apart from a couple of minor issues with thefloor we didn't really have to make any changes to the car straightout of the box. We also ran through a number of procedures that arenew to me, particularly starts as we didn't do too many of thoselast year, but the main thing for me is the tyres. They definitelyfeel different to what I ran in the Friday sessions I did in 2012and that's going to be a focus for us in the tests, to get as muchas we can out of them.
"It's obviously far too early to make any judgements on theperformance levels we can expect from the 2013 package but comparedto the car I drove in Brazil it feels like we've made some goodprogress over the winter. Tomorrow will be more of the same for us- running through more procedures and a few set-up options acrossthe range of tyres we have available here and hopefully getting inas many laps as possible."
Cyril Abiteboul, Team Principal: "I'm happywith what we have achieved today. We began day one of the test byrevealing the 2013 car with its new livery and I'm very pleasedwith the reaction we've had from around the world to the updatedcar. It's always a risk changing something people feel aspassionately as they do about F1 car liveries but we've had somevery good responses to it and seeing it out on track proves that wemade the right decision.
"Performance-wise it's too early to tell where we're going toline up this season. We're realistic enough to know that it willtake a big effort to fight the teams ahead, but we are patient andwe've set ourselves achievable targets for the year ahead. One ofthe keys to helping us reach those goals will be maximum track timein the tests so we have to aim for another three days of clearrunning and see what we've learnt when we get back to thefactory.
"All in all it's been a good day and another bonus for us is tosee how well Charles and Giedo have slotted into the team. Thisbodes well for the year ahead and it's great to see our driverpairing fitting in so well in the very early stages of theseason.
