Foreigner let off with warning for organising anti-Hong Kong protest event in Singapore
Giving foreigners a free pass to commit crimes in Singapore again, China national Hong Kong resident has been let off with just a “stern warning” by the Singapore Police. The Singapore police closed both eyes and refused to charge the foreigner activist, Alex Yeung, who organised an anti-Hong Kong protest event in Singapore.
An unnamed 55-year-old Singaporean new citizen, who was also a China national, was also let off with only a warning. The duo organised their event at The Promontory at the Marina Bay, inviting the public to “express their views on the Hong Kong protest”.
The event wrapped up with the group singing slogans supporting China and the Hong Kong police, with the Singaporean expressing his love and patriotism to China.
The Singapore Police did not make any arrest and only impounded Alex Yeung’s passport, and even expressly stated that he is free to go anywhere in Singapore while investigations were ongoing.
Yesterday, Alex Yeung was allowed to leave Singapore with only but a “stern warning”, according to the Singapore Police.
The biased treatment contrast greatly with the 16 days jail imposed on a Singaporean who organised a pro-Hong Kong protest event in a private function.
The lack of justice in law enforcement is common in Singapore, where Singaporean citizens are punished harder for similar offences.
