Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard admits his excitement at the prospect of playing alongside Eden Hazard next term

Frank Lampard has revealed his delight at the news that Eden Hazard is poised to join Chelsea next season.

The 21-year-old Belgium playmaker had been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League and he finally ended months of speculation when revealed that he would be joining the “Champions League winners” on Twitter on Monday.

The move will reportedly be worth in the region of £32m and was personally pushed through by Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich.

And Lampard admits he is excited by the prospect of playing alongside Hazard next season at Stamford Bridge.

“It is very exciting to hear the news,” said Lampard. “I haven’t seen much French football but everyone I speak to says he is a very top player, a very top young player.

“If he can bring that youth and hunger and ability into our team, then he’ll be very welcome.

“Joe Cole knows him very well and spent a year at Lille with him. Talking about those type of players, Joe is very honest and knowledgeable and he has been very impressed with him.”

Marin confident of first-team place at Chelsea & confirms Tottenham bid
The new German signing believes he can stake a claim for an immediate first-team berth and has revealed that Spurs did make an offer for him before he moved to west London


Chelsea's latest recruit Marko Marin feels that he is capable of going straight into the starting line-up after joining from German side Werder Bremen.

The 23-year-old agreed to sign for the Blues in April after they agreed a fee in the region of £6.5m for the talented attacking midfield player. Marin will officially join the club on July 1 when the transfer window re-opens.

He told Spox.com: "I am sure that I will play for Chelsea. Why? Because they took me to London. The management has convinced me. It is a top-team!

"They have won the Champions League. The club, the scouting, the management, they have often observed me and they are convinced that I can help the team."

Marin is highly thought of across Europe, and the diminutive playmaker - who was born in Yugoslavia but has won 16 caps for Germany - confirmed that north London rivals Tottenham also made an offer to try and secure his services.

He added: "There was also an offer from Tottenham - yes, that is right."
