暫時不調漲產品售價　PPB無意展開收購行動

(吉隆坡16日訊)PPB集團(PPB，4065，主板消費股)目前無意展開收購行動，以及未考慮增持新加坡豐益國際集團(WILMAR)的股權。

同時，儘管糧食價格正不斷高漲，不過PPB集團目前並無意提高旗下產品的售價。

PPB集團執行主席拿督胡兆南透露，該集團不會隨意調高產品價格，並會根據市場價格同步以執行調整價格的方向。

他說，該集團將會秉持以高價買進，就以高價賣出的方式來制定價格。

大馬政府在4月份調高麵粉售價。

該集團預測其08財政年的淨利，可以維持和06財政年的水平。該集團將在截至08年12月31日的財政年，派發62仙的需扣稅特別股息，並放眼未來可以維持相同股息率。

針對該集團會否持續對金鵬集團(TRANMIL，7000，主板貿服股)的投資進行撥備，他打趣表示，必須胥該股價格表現而定。若股價表現佳，理所當然不必增持，反而必須進行減值撥備。

詢及該集團是否展開任何收購行動，董事經理陳義隨表示，今年並沒有任何收購計劃。該集團向來不是透過收購行動，而是透過內部自行開發來擴發業務。同時，該集團暫無考慮進場增購豐益國際集團的股權，主要是豐益國際集團的股價相當高，目前股價超過5新元，該公司將把資金用在擴展業務用途。

娛樂業務方面，GSC戲院所帶來的貢獻相當鼓舞，該集團計劃分別在亞庇和馬六甲增設戲院。儘管市場消費低迷，但卻絲毫無損消費者買票進場看戲的情緒，因此，該集團放眼取得雙位數的成長。目前，GSC戲院的市佔率介于45%至50%之間。

針對手套業務面臨虧損的窘境，胡兆南在該公司常年股東大會后指出，該集團已決定關閉該業務，並將剩余的產業脫售。目前，已有3至4位買家與該集團進行洽談。因此，相信脫售手套業務有助該集團取得300萬美元的價格。

PPB: Commodities market remains uncertain

KUALA LUMPUR: PPB Group Bhd, whose main businesses include sugar refining as well as wheat flour and animal feed milling, sees commodity prices remaining volatile due to heavy speculation by hedge funds and demand from biofuel producers.

“It's complicated. Wheat prices are being driven by corn prices, which is used as a feedstock for biofuel and when farmers cannot feed their livestock maize, they feed them wheat, which is then driven up,” said chairman Datuk Oh Siew Nam.

Oh said buying wheat contracts on the futures market might not help because of the volatility.

“Overall, the long-term trend for the price of various soft commodities is on the increase but there are seasonal variations and fluctuations in demand,” he said after the company AGM yesterday.

He said the wheat price would be lower after the harvests in October but would still be higher than a year ago.

“From now till the harvest, it will be between US$500 and US$550 per tonne,” he said, adding that the price did not include freight and transportation costs, which depended on location and space availability.

Oh also said PPB would pass on the higher costs to consumers.

“If we buy at a higher price, we'll sell it at a higher price; we'll go out of business if we sell cheap,” he said, adding that 70% of the wheat flour the company sold was not price-controlled.

Oh said there was no shortage of food despite the higher prices. “It's whether the consumers are willing to pay the higher prices.”

Managing director Tan Gee Sooi said so far, there had been no negative feedback on the higher prices because, on average, the flour sold by the company was 5% to 10% cheaper than in neighbouring countries such as Thailand and Vietnam.

Tan said that until recently, the company's wheat flour price was revised every two to three years.

“The last revision we did was on April 1 and the one prior to that was last November,” he said, adding that PPB would continue to average out its forward wheat contracts on the futures market.

On another note, PPB expects admissions to its Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC) multiplexes to grow by double-digit this year.

GSC Sdn Bhd chief executive Koh Mei Lee said despite the higher costs of food and energy, there had been no drop in admissions based on the first quarter figures.

For the financial year ended Dec 31, 2007, PPB posted a net profit of RM6.97bil due to the RM6.35bil one-off gain from the disposal of its shares in PPB Oil Palms Bhd, PGEO Sdn Bhd and Kuok Oils and Grains Pte Ltd to Wilmar International Ltd last year.

Revenue from its continuing operations improved by 15% to RM2.99bil.

PPB expects higher dividends from Wilmar

PPB Group Bhd, the second biggest shareholder in Singapore's Wilmar International Ltd, expects to receive more dividends from the plantation group this year as palm oil prices remain strong.

Last year, PPB, which is involved in flour milling and sugar manufacturing, received RM70 million from Wilmar.

"Whether or not we will receive more this year will depend on how well Wilmar performs. Palm oil is still trading at strong prices," chairman Datuk Oh Siew Nam told reporters after the company's annual general meeting in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.

PPB may also set aside more money to cover further falls in the value of its investment in Transmile Group Bhd, an air cargo company that was hit by an accounting scandal.



PPB holds a four per cent stake in Transmile, via Trinity Coral Sdn Bhd.

"Last year, we already provided RM12 million, up to its net tangible value," Oh said.

The company is also in talks to sell its rubber glove business in Indonesia.

Since July 2006, PPB's rubber glove plant faced shortage of natural gas and electricity supply. The factory produced less than 30 per cent of its capacity and in December 2007, PPB decided to close it down.

"So far, we made provisions amounting to RM19 million for this glove business. We're now talking to three or four parties to sell the assets and maybe recover about US$3 million (RM9.75 million)," PPB managing director Tan Gee Sooi said.

Oh also said that there is no shortage of food.

"It is just that consumers are not willing to pay more for food when the ingredients have become more expensive."

Food ingredients have become more costly because fuel used to process food and transport them to consumers are more expensive. Crude oil prices have doubled from a year ago and is currently trading at US$127 (RM412) per barrel. Food prices have also gone up because biofuel industries in developed countries are consuming corn, soya and palm oil that could have been processed into foodstuff.

玻璃市種植
業務前景難測
（吉隆坡16日訊）原產品價近期波動甚大，玻璃市種植（PPB，4065，主板消費）直言難以預測業務前景。
該公司指出，由于近期產品價走勢反覆無常，導致公司進行避險時，極具桃戰。

“除了面對原產品價起伏跌宕的走勢，生化燃油的需求激增及市場投機活動或對沖基金介入，使我們更難以預測未來業務成長走勢。”

昨日大馬7月份原棕油期貨尾隨石油價格收低，儘管今日原棕油期貨持續下滑，但價格仍較上週高出0.3%。

亞歐美證券分析員王志騰向《彭博社》指出，預計原棕油期貨價將持續上揚，並計劃上調原棕油全年目標價至每公噸3000令吉。

另外，截至下午1時26分，芝加哥期貨交易所（CBOT）的大豆價揚升0.9%，同時，大豆油也應聲上揚0.9%。

丰益国际的首季净利暴涨590％到3亿4305万美元（4亿6998万新元），也比市场预测的高。星展集团研究报告说，丰益的首季净利已经相等相等于对它作出全年净利预测的45％。尽管它的高税前盈利率水平长期来说将放缓下来，它的强劲产额应该能维持下去。考虑到它在棕油交易以及中国食用油市场的领导地位，星展集团将它今年和明年的每股盈利预测分别调高73％和47％，因此即使近期股价上升，依然给予“买入”评级，并把一年目标价从5.40元调高到5.65元。

联昌将丰益目标价
大幅调高到6.30元

　  联昌国际也表示丰益的季度盈利胜于预测，指它的油料（oilseed）和油棕业务的营运利润率及销量额增长高于预期，并且从人民币对美元升值中受惠，因此将它今年到2010年的盈利预测调高介于22％和25％之间，把评级提升为“表现优于大市”，目标价从5.40元大幅度调高到6.30元，以反映出坚挺的产品售价以及中国旺盛的消费市场对其销量和盈利率的作用。

很明显的....另一个历史高峰....即将诞生....
