UniFi for Butterworth and Bukit Mertajam folk in July

TELEKOM Malaysia Berhad (TM) will expand its UniFi high speed broadband service to two more areas in Penang in July following overwhelming response from customers in three existing spots.

Penang TM general manager Azhar Omar said the two new areas are Butterworth and Bukit Mertajam where the company aimed to sign up 10,000 subscribers.

He said more than 1,000 people had signed up for the UniFi service in Seberang Jaya, Bukit Tengah and Bayan Baru since it was introduced in the three areas in September last year.

“The number of subscribers is increasing from day to day,” Azhar told reporters after opening the fourth Penang TM authorised dealer (TAD) outlet in Alma near Bukit Mertajam on Wednesday.

He said most of TM’s existing Streamyx subscribers upgraded their package to the UNiFi service for faster Internet speed, adding that the fifth TAD outlet in Penang would be opened in Tanjung Tokong soon.

“TM projects will open between 40 and 60 new TAD outlets all over the country this year,” Azhar added.
