早前 Google 就宣佈開放 Trekker Camera 的租借計劃，並且表示夏威夷地區已經正在使用工具收集更多當地的街景圖片。但除了這些熱鬧繁華的城市外，Google 亦宣佈為我們帶來於日本自 1970年起已經荒廢的端島的街景相片。單看端島這個名字，大家可能都不太熟識，但其實這就是日本經典驚悸電影《大逃殺2》的故事背景（但實際拍攝在其他地點進行）。現在 Google 就為大家揭開這座人稱「鬼島」的神秘面紗，看來 Google 將會在未來帶我們遊覽更多神秘的地方。
由於 Google Glass 仍在測試階段的關係，我們可以預期 Google 將積極為裝置帶來更新，加入更多新的功能測試。而在最新發放的更新中，Google 就為 Google Glass 加入了更多新的語音輸入指令，新指令將與用家的智能手機連接，讓大家利用語音輸入指示通話等動作，例如當用家講出「Okay, Glass. Read aloud.」，便可以讓 Google Glass 為你讀出短訊、而當你說出「Okay, Glass. Reply.」便可以進行回覆動作、而當用家說出「Okay, Glass. Answer call.」時則可以接聽電話。
除了語音輸入功能外，一個十分荒謬的功能亦得到解除。在更新前，Google Glass 只能夠辨認出十個聯絡人的資料，更新後，Google Glass 終於能正常分別所有的聯絡人。另外，更新亦加入了網頁瀏覽功能，用家現在能在搜尋結果中直接瀏覽網站，並且利用手指於觸控板上進行滾動及放大縮小等動作。現時距離 Google Glass 推出還有一段不短的時間，到底 Google 還會為我們帶來什麼新功能呢？
在幾星期前，我們分別聽到了 Samsung 及 HTC 將會推出 Mini 系列手機如 Galaxy S4 Mini 及 HTC One Mini 等。然後，我們亦看到了國內品牌 Oppo 計劃推出 Oppo Mini 的傳聞，可見各大品牌均認為 Mini 系列的中階手機市場有一定的潛力。 現在，就有消息指 Lenovo 及 Huawei 同樣計劃加入這些 Mini 系列，據 DigiTimes 的消息指，兩間廠商準備在今年下半年推出 Mini 系列的智能手機，主打中階至高階市場，手機尺寸分別由 4.3吋至 4.5吋。大家會否較喜歡這一系列的 Mini 版手機呢？
First Moto X ad due tomorrow is all about freedom to customize. 'Merica!
We're likely getting close to the release of the Motorola Moto X, which our source has consistently said would be released in July/August. Now, there's a new ad that has leaked out that looks to be the first ad for the Moto X. It is a full page ad that is obviously due to run tomorrow, and it's all about freedom, not to mention taking a jab at Apple that Motorola's phones are "designed, engineered and assembled in the USA". 'Merica!
It's obvious that the ad is designed to run tomorrow, because it refers to the 4th of July as "tomorrow", which is when (according to the ad) you'll "eat burgers, watch fireworks and celebrate the freedom to be whoever you want to be." Grammatical awkwardness aside, the ad goes on to drop the good news, calling the Moto X:
The first smartphone that you can design yourself. Because today you should have the freedom to design the things in your life to be as unique as you are.
It's unclear exactly what kind of customization options will be available. We've heard before that customers will be given the choice of over 20 colors for the phone, and there have been unconfirmed rumors about various hardware customization options like storage capacity, amount of RAM, and even the case material. We'll just have to wait and see on all that.
The ad unfortunately doesn't have an image of the phone, but rather two generic white people jumping into a lake. And, it also doesn't mention when we'll see the phone itself, leaving it simply as "Moto X. Coming soon." Although, a very observant reader did point out that the man and woman jumping into the lake do seem to be in an 'X' and 'I' shape. So, if you wanted to read into it, you might try to guess that the device would be announced on July 11th, since XI is the roman numeral for 11. It's a bit of a stretch, but we do know that Google likes hiding numbers in things, so it's always possible.
YouTube multitasking is coming, claims a leakster
A few hours ago, reliable leakster @ryanf1fan has posted yet another heads-up on The Verge forum. According to him, “coming out in sometime” is an updated [backcolor=transparent !important]YouTube app which will allow users to simultaneously watch one video whilst searching for another. And while the [backcolor=transparent !important]Google team is at it, we can think of a bunch of people that would also love the ability to listen to music whilst YouTube is running in the background.
Back to the leak at hand, @ryanf1fan claims [backcolor=transparent !important]app performance is fluid and fast on his Galaxy Nexus and shares some more info on the functionality of the upcoming update:
App will retain current aesthetic
When you start a video an arrow pointing down will appear at the top left corner
Swiping on the arrow will create a small window at the bottom left corner of the screen where the video will continue playing
You can continue scrolling through other videos simultaneously
It currently doesn't support system wide capabilities but that should come by launch tim
早在 Google 放棄 Motorola X 計劃前，就有消息指 Motorola X 將會讓用家自行選擇自己喜歡的規格及顏色，並組裝成自己獨有的 Motorola X 手機。雖然我們不知道事情會否如我們所期望的發展，但可以肯定的是 Motorola 已經為 Motorola X 計劃推出平面廣告，在廣告中標明「Designed by You. Assembled in the USA.」意味著大家可能真的能夠自行挑選喜歡的硬件配備，而 Motorola 則會於美國為你組裝手機。雖然一切仍有待 Motorola 進一步的介紹，但相信不少朋友也會喜歡公司這個創新的做法吧！
