如果把when拿掉有没有问题？就是：

可以简化(reduce)的[关系从句/relative clauses]:

(1) who/which/that... + present simple tense:
The teacher who teaches us history is Mr Wu.
who teaches => teaching : The teacher teaching us history is Mr Wu.

(2) who/which/that... + (be):
The vase that was broken by the cat was an expensive antique vase.
that was => 省略: The vase broken by the cat was an expensive antique vase.
The man who is working in the garden is our new gardener.
who is => 省略: The man working in the garden is our new gardener.
The boy who is at the bus stop is my classmate.
who is => 省略: The boy at the bus stop is my classmate.

(3) who/which/that + [代名词/pronoun] + verb
The cake that she made was delicious.
that => 省略: The cake she made was delicious.
The book that I am reading is interesting.
that => 省略: The book I am reading is interesting.

只要有字就会牵涉到语法。最简单的句子，如：
Look！
祈使句/imperative: 得用原型动词，如果说 Looking！或 Looked！就错了，这就是语法。


一个动词的及物与否会影响到表达方式，如：
arrive - 不及物动词
reach - 及物动词

我们得说
... arrive in Kuala Lumpur
... reach Kuala Lumpur
   
这些都是语法问题。
