RCE Capital Expresses Interest For EPF's Stake In MBSB

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 25 (Bernama) -- Financing provider RCE Capital Bhd is interested to acquire the 54 percent stake in Malaysia Building Society Bhd (MBSB) held by the Employees Provident Fund (EPF). Its executive chairman Tan Sri Azman Hashim said the company had expressed interest but yet to put up an official bid for the stake in MBSB. "No response also yet," he told reporters on the sidelines of a signing ceremony between AmInvestment Bank Bhd and RHB Investment Bank Bhd for the issuance of asset-backed securities to raise RM1.5 billion by RCE Capital's 100 percent owned subsidiary RCE Marketing Sdn Bhd. His comment was in response to a news report which said that EPF had formally received a bid from RCE Capital last month, offering up to RM860 million, or two times MBSB's net asset value (NAV), for the stake. MBSB has a total book value of RM430 million as at end-June this year. Azman also said that matters were at a "very preliminary" stage to determine whether to acquire a partial stake or the entire 54 percent stake. Asked why RCE Capital was interested in MBSB, he said: "For us it makes some sense because we are in the financing business and MBSB is also a finance house. If we want to expand, this will be one way to do it." Asked what would be the next step for RCE Capital in the acquisition bid, Azman said: "We will see what the response is like." On whether RCE Capital would team up with Kuwait Finance House (M) Bhd for the bid, he said: "At the moment we are on our own. It is not a joint bid."   -- BERNAMA

Sept. 25 (Bloomberg) -- RCE Capital Bhd., which provides consumer credit to civil servants in Malaysia, said it may bid for a stake in Malaysia Building Society Bhd.

``We have expressed an interest, but we haven't got a response yet,'' Azman Hashim, chairman of RCE, told reporters in Kuala Lumpur today. ``We are in the financing business and MBSB is also a finance house, and it makes sense for RCE. If we want to expand, that will be one way to do it.''

Malaysia's Employees Provident Fund is seeking to sell its 54 percent stake in Malaysia Building at 2.4 times book value, pricing the company at 1.03 billion ringgit ($300 million), the Star newspaper said today, without saying where it got the information. RCE and Kuwait Finance House (M) Bhd. submitted bids lower than the pension fund's target, the report said.

RCE, which plans to bid on its own for now, hasn't made a formal bid or decided on how large a stake it wants, Azman said. ``This is very preliminary,'' he added.

Kuwait Finance House, the Persian Gulf's largest Islamic investment bank, isn't interested in Malaysia Building, said Salman Younis, who heads the Malaysian unit of the bank.

Sept. 25 (Bloomberg) -- Kuwait Finance House, the Persian Gulf's largest Islamic investment bank, denied a Malaysian newspaper report that it's bidding for a controlling stake in Malaysia Building Society Bhd.

Kuwait Finance House (M) Bhd., the Malaysian unit of the bank, is among two companies which submitted a bid to buy a controlling stake in Malaysia Building, the Star newspaper reported, without saying where it got the information.

``That's not true,'' Salman Younis, who heads the local unit, said in a telephone interview. The company is not interested in Malaysia Building, he said.

Malaysia's Employees Provident Fund plans to sell its 54 percent stake in Malaysia Building at 2.4 times its book value, pricing the company at 1.03 billion ringgit ($301 million), the Star said.

是不是买定了..最怕等下RCE也说,我没有说要买啊...想买吧了.

The Star写RCE和KFH是second round bidder，可是KFH讲她们没参与。。。

如果真的要买，恐怕rce的小股东就会非常痛苦
短期内或长期都会大大大大大大大大大打击rce的盈利

如果价钱谈不拢，EPF也未必要卖。。。

有赚就放吧，big ear long的公司不长久的。尤其是这deal根本对rce没有利益。炒起来吧了。

何以见得? 我还觉得是非常好的事情呢.

收购价太高了，算一下就知道这是政治deal，更本没有好处，长期（5年）还可能有赚，也只是可能，短期就肯定盈利大幅度打击。比ijm和roadbulider的deal更惨。

2.2倍MBSB的book value，每股大概RM2.7左右。。
