QPR AGREE NELSEN DEAL Posted on: Mon 18 Jun 2012
Queens Park Rangers Football Club can confirm it has reached agreement with defender Ryan Nelsen on an initial one-year deal.
The 34 year-old's contract will commence on July 1st following the conclusion of his contract with Tottenham Hotspur.
This is the second time Nelsen will have been signed by Mark Hughes, after the QPR Manager originally brought him to Blackburn Rovers in 2005.
Nelsen, who has made more than 170 Premier League appearances and will Captain New Zealand at this summer's London Olympics, told www.qpr.co.uk: "I am really pleased to be joining QPR.

"I have obviously got a lot of history with the Manager and that was a massive draw for me.
"I like his winning attitude. He and all his staff just have an absolute desire to win, and that's what the Premier League is all about.
"If you haven't got that, you won't be successful.
"The owners have got fantastic ambition and it's exciting to become a part of that. There's a real buzz about the place and it is a privilege to be here.
"I have got the Olympics coming up and that will be a good way for me to get prepared."
Hughes added: "I am delighted to bring Ryan to the Club. I know what he is all about and what he can offer us, both on and off the pitch.
"He hasn't played a lot of football in the past year or so but he is fit, raring to go, and looking forward to representing his country at the Olympics.
"Ryan has got great experience in the Premier League and that is something our squad is lacking a little bit at present.
"He's a fantastic professional with a great work ethic and it will benefit the younger lads in the group to see how he goes about his work."
AJ AGREES R'S DEAL Posted on: Mon 18 Jun 2012
Queens Park Rangers Football Club is pleased to announce it has reached agreement with striker Andrew Johnson on a two-year deal.
The 31 year-old's contract will commence on July 1st following the conclusion of his current deal with West London neighbours Fulham.
The move to Loftus Road will reunite 'AJ' with former Cottagers boss Mark Hughes, as well as R's front-man Bobby Zamora, whom he enjoyed such a profitable partnership with at Craven Cottage.
Johnson has a proven track record in English football, having netted a remarkable 147 goals in all competitions, scoring at a rate of one goal in every three appearances throughout his career.

Speaking exclusively to www.qpr.co.uk, Johnson - who has eight England senior caps to his name - expressed his delight at joining the R's.
"I've worked closely with Mark before and there are also players here that I've played with previously, including Bobby Zamora and Shaun Derry," he said.
"Those were factors in me joining, but this is a big, big Club and I've spoken to the Chairman and Mark, who both have great ambition for QPR, and it's something that I wanted to be a part of."
Johnson added: "Mark was brilliant when I was at Fulham. I'd just come off the back of a rough spell with a knee injury and he guided and helped me through that period.
"He was great to play under. He's a top a Manager and has some fantastic staff around him.
"Being an ex-player, he knows what players want and expect. He's excellent with the players. He speaks to them and he's on the same level as them.
"He said it'd be great to team up again and that he was thrilled about the possibility of me joining QPR.
"He told me about the plans for a new training ground and how the Club wants to go forward. That really excited me." |

HILLY PENS EXTENSION Posted on: Tue 19 Jun 2012
Clint Hill has agreed a new one-year extension to his current contract at Loftus Road.
The 33 year-old defender, who scooped both the Players' Player and Supporters' Player of the Year awards last season, has agreed a deal until the summer of 2013, with the option of a further year.

Hill, who initially joined Rangers as a free agent in June 2010, has made 70 appearances to date in all competitions for the R's, scoring two goals.
During that time, he has emerged as a huge favourite amongst the Rangers faithful and enjoyed arguably the finest campaign of his career last term.
Speaking exclusively to www.qpr.co.uk, a delighted Hill said: "I'm absolutely buzzing. As soon as I found out that Mark Hughes wanted to keep me for at least another year, staying here was the only thing on my mind.
"It was a straightforward decision to stay. I love playing here and I love playing at Loftus Road. It's a great ground."
Hill added: "I've seen the plans for the future and the new training ground it's an exciting time to be here. I'm really looking forward to the challenge.
"Hopefully I can now try and get a few more games under my belt and next season will see us progress even further as a Club.
"New players are coming in and it's an exciting time for everyone connected to the Club. I just want to try and give the gaffer a headache.
"I don't know what the starting eleven's going to be, but I'm willing to rise to the challenge again and make it hard for people to take that place off me." |

EXCLUSIVE: FABIO'S A LOAN RANGER Posted on: Mon 02 Jul 2012
Highly-rated Manchester United defender Fabio da Silva has put pen to paper on a season-long loan deal at Loftus Road.
The talented Brazilian, who has made 53 First Team appearances in all competitions for the Red Devils, has agreed a deal until the end of the 2012/13 season.
Fabio will link up with his new QPR team-mates at pre-season training on Monday, ironically the day when he celebrates his 22nd birthday.
A delighted Mark Hughes told www.qpr.co.uk: "It's a great opportunity for us to loan a good, young player, who has decent experience of playing for a top Club like Manchester United.
"He's played a lot of senior games for United, so it shows the quality he's got.
"I know they think very highly of him and we believe he has all the attributes to be a success here next season."
Hughes believes da Silva's versatility will give him far greater defensive options next season, adding: "First and foremost, he's a good defender. He's got great enthusiasm as well, and just like his brother, he's a top professional.
"We can give him the games he's craving at this stage of his career, so it benefits everybody.
"He's very versatile - he can play left or right-back and he's also been utilised in midfield by Sir Alex (Ferguson) in the past, so we know what we're getting, and that's a very good player."
Fabio, who just missed out on a place in the Brazilian squad for this summer's Olympics, said: "I'm so happy to be here.
"This loan is so important for me in terms of my career. I want to play as many games as possible here. I want to play well and win games as well.
"It's a good move for my career and for my confidence.
"Sir Alex Ferguson said that I'd enjoy it here and told me to play as many games as I can."
He added: "I know that QPR is a Club with great history. I read about the history and that's why I'm here.
"I also came here because I'm ambitious. I want to help QPR progress up the Premier League.
"Hopefully the fans will enjoy watching me in action, because I'll do my best." |
