Khe Wei and Wee Kiong hope for breakthrough
PETALING JAYA: Youngster Woon Khe Wei hopes to celebrate her oneyear mixed doubles partnership with Tan Wee Kiong by doing well in three international tournaments, starting with the All-England.
In Birmingham today, the world number 35th ranked pair will be out to come up trumps from the All- England qualifying tournament.
Their next two tournaments are the Swiss Open (March 12-16, Basel) and the Asian Championships (April 15-20, Johor Baru).
“Wee Kiong and I played together for the first time in the Asian Championships last April. It has been almost a year but we have yet to make a breakthrough in the senior tournaments,” said the 19-year-old Khe Wei.
The qualifying period for the Olympics ends in April after the Asian Championships.
Two other mixed doubles pairs – world junior champions Lim Khim Wah-Ng Hui Lin and Mohd Razif Abdul Latif-Sabrina Chong – will also compete in the qualifying rounds of the All-England.
In the men's singles, Tan Chun Seang has to beat Vietnamese top player Nguyen Tien Minh to make it to the tournament proper.
The other Malaysians involved in today's qualifiers are Julia Wong (women's singles) and Goh Liu Ying- Ng Hui Lin, Mooi Hing Yau-Ooi Yu Hang (women's doubles). |

Lydia-Jing Yi continue to impress in GP Finals 
ALOR STAR: Junior shuttlers Lydia Cheah and Tee Jing Yi have often lined up on the opposite sides of the net in the women's singles final of numerous local junior tournaments.
But it is their scratch partnership in the doubles event of the National Grand Prix Finals here which is making heads turn.
Lydia-Jing Yi reached the semi-finals of the National GP Finals.
The pair reached the Thailand Open quarter-finals in 2006 and also the final of the Asian Junior Championships last year.
After just two tournaments playing together they are continuing their fine record in Alor Star.
The 18-year-old Lydia and 17-year-old Jing Yi qualified for the semi-finals.
They notched convincing straight-game wins over Ng Hui Lin-Goh Liu Ying and turned the tables on top seeds Amelia Anscelly-Goh Sook Chin in their Group A matches.
Due to their lack of participation in doubles competitions, Lydia-Jing Yi are placed a lowly 181st in the world rankings. They are ranked much lower than the two pairs whom they beat this week – Hui Lin-Liu Ying (48th) and Amelia-Sook Chin (58th).
“I am as surprised as everyone else with our doubles performances. We are both singles players and do not train for the doubles at all,” said Lydia.
“I have been paired with many doubles partners for junior tournaments over the years. But Jing Yi and myself have hit it off as a good combination since teaming up two years ago.”
Kuala Lumpur player Lydia, who was the national women's singles runner-up last year, did not qualify for Finals in the singles this time after coming down with an ankle injury in a first round match of the Kedah Open last year against Jing Yi.
Penangite Jing Yi, who eventually went all the way to the final before losing to Julia Wong in the Kedah Open, is competing in the singles as well.
The Kedah BA Hall, the venue of this week's national championships, holds pleasant memories for both players. They contested for the 2006 Sukma (Malaysia Games) women's singles gold medal and Lydia emerged as the winner.
“I think our doubles opponents face problems against us because we adopt the singles players' skills and strategies during matches. Although we are through to the semis, our chances of bagging a first national title in the women's doubles is still 50-50. There are several good pairs in the tournament,” said Jing Yi.
In the absence of Malaysia's top women's pair Chin Eei Hui-Wong Pei Tty, Lydia and Jing Yi rate senior pairs Fong Chew Yen-Mooi Hing Yau and Julia Wong-Anita Raj Kaur, who are in Group B, as their biggest threats for the title. |

很可惜的是我们的世界青年混双冠军黃惠齡只是打到尤杯而已  她的搭挡林欽華就只好和黄佩蒂打混双了！

其实很多年轻的选手都慢慢退出国家队了....
主要是BAM不守承诺......
有时不知道BAM想什么的.....

很多东西还不方便讲...
每次我们看到报纸写BAM会答应或考虑什么什么的.......
但是就算答应了都没有实行咯.... |

陈俊翔和阿里夫感觉上很幸运的会随大队去印尼参加汤杯 不管陈俊翔有没有的好位列第四单打 这已经是很好的经验了 希望他们俩能替未来大马的羽运贡献！ |
