A discrete random variable Y follows a binomial distribution with mean 6 and variance 3/2. Find the biggest possible value of Y and show that p(Y=3)=189/8192.
The variable Y represents the number of eggs produced by a bird in a year.

我要问probability的,
the probability that an employee of a company is late for work is 0.15 in any working day and 0.35 if it rains. the probability that it rains is 0.24. calculate
(c) the probability that the employee is late on at least 2 out of 5 consecutive working days. (4m)

= 0.198
P(late >= 2) = 1 - P(late<2)
= 1 - 5C0 (0.198)^0 (0.802)^5 - 5C1 (0.198)^1 (0.802)^4
=1-0.741

最多只能装150,overflow就是超过150,所以是P(x>150) |

这个虽然是binomial case,但是np>5,所以我们可以approximate是normal。
P(x>=8)经过continuity correction后就变成 P(x>=7.5) |

我想问paper chapter 8 的问题。。。
当我们做multiplicative and additive model的部分
如果是multiplicative seasonal variation 要到4,所以如果total S 超过4,比如4.0001就要做adjusted , 那么 S x [4/4.0001]
我想过的是如果是少过呢?
0.393 + 0.787 + 1.791 = 2.971
S 加什么?
然后additivite model的,
如果不是0,就要做adjusted,
但如果超过0呢?
有点乱><

我assume两个E 跟三个S是similar的。。。
两个E在一起 --> EE _ _ _ _ _ _ _ (EE不一定在旁边,我随便放罢了)
因为 EE 一定在一起了,我们把 EE 当作一个group
现在要permutate 一个group + 7个剩下的字母 --》 8P8
因为三个S是similar的,需要 除与 3!
答案: 8P8 除与 3! |

b) E有两个, S有三个 所以。。。
2 _ _ _ _ _ _ _ 3
放了两个字母(E,S)后,还剩下7个字母,你可以cincai permutate,
ISOSCEL 《---- 有2个 S,所以 是7P7 除与 2!
总共的arrangement,
2 x ( 7P7 除与 2!) x 3 |
