Section A [45 marks]

1.
f(x)=1/2(e^x - e^(-x))

(a) Show that f(x) has an inverse. [3 marks]

(b) Find the inverse & state its domain. [7 marks]

2.
Write the infinite recurring decimal 0.1318181818... as the sum of constant and a geometric series.Hence,express the recurring decimal as a fraction in its lowest terms. [4 marks]

3.
Matrix M=
(5  4 -2)
(4  5 -2)
(-2 -2 2)

Show that there exists non-zero constants a & b such that M^2 = aM+bI,where I is the 3x3 identity matrix. [6 marks]
Hence,find the matrix of the matrix M. [3 marks]

4.
f(x) = (3x^2 + x) / (3x^2 - 8x - 3)
Find lim x->-1/3 f(x) & lim x->∞ f(x). [4 marks]

5.
Show that
∫(e,1) ln x / x^5 dx = 1/16(1-[5/(4e^4)]. [6 marks]

6.
xydy/dx+y^2=3x^4
Show that the substitution u=y/x^2 transforms into:
xdu/dx=3[(1-u^2)/u]

and find u^2 in terms of x. [9 marks]

Hence,find the particular solution which y=2 when x=1. [3 marks]

Section B [15 marks]

1/r(r^2 - 1) identity to 1/2[1/r(r-1) - 1/r(r+1)]
[4 marks]

Hence,use the method of difference to find the sum of the first (n-1) terms,Sn-1,of the series
1/2*3 + 1/3*8 + 1/4*15 +...+ 1/2[1/r(r-1) - 1/r(r+1)] +...
[6 marks]

(b) Explain why the series converges to 1/4 and determine the smallest value of n such that 1/4 - Sn < 0.0025
[5 marks]

8. Graph我就不画出来了。
The graph of y=(3x-1) / (x+1)^3
(a) Write the equation of asymptotes of the graph. [1 marks]

(b) Determine the coordinates of the points A and B. [9 marks]
A是local maximum point,B是point of inflexion,已标记在graph.

Hence,state
(i) the set of values of x when dy/dx >= 0, [1 mark]
(ii)the intervals where the graph is concave upward. [1 mark]

(c) Using the above graph,determine the set of values of k for which equation 3x-1-k(x+1)^3 = 0
(i) 3 distinct real roots, [2 marks]
(ii) only 1 +ve root. [1 mark]

不只数学out of syallbus 咯，physic不也一样吗？说那题joint rod 的，根本就没有的好不好......................................................

只有4个字形容今天的PP:

"时间不够" 或 "手都断了"

时间根本都不够，最后30分钟做kajian kes，死写烂抄，字体乱到 >_<

还有out of syllabus的东西，谁知道那个Fedrick... 什么的是谁...?

这应该under pengurusan，为啥？

时间真的不够，我做到快奔溃了==，手真的很酸。。拼命的写

我听人家讲，那个Fedrick是2nd Sem才读到的 TT.TT
不觉得我们考试好像被教育局玩了吗？
全部out of syllabus的！！

chemistry 的section c里关于ionisation energy的那题也是sem 2 的。这次stpm term 1 的考试真是挺难的啊

今天的ekonomi蛮容易的

但是没有读到ekonomi bidang dalaman T_T
为什么不出luaran...

越容易，越担心 ._.
