Hills Shopping Mall for classy shopping
KUCHING: The largest mall in the ‘golden triangle’, Hills Shopping Mall, is set to open by the end of October, bringing with it a new standard in shopping.
Located at the site of the soon-to-be-open Pullman Hotel at Jalan Bukit Mata Kuching, it offers quality retail facilities in a high class shopping environment.
Developed by Interhill Group, the nett floor area of the mall is around 100,000 sq feet and there will be 60 shops with 40 kiosks and pushcarts.
“The project started two years ago and the mall is now 98 per cent complete. We allocated 40 per cent of shops for food and beverage (F&B) outlets spread over two levels. These are all fronting Jalan Bukit Mata Kuching where most highrise office buildings are situated.
“The local and international F&B outlets will be operating from morning to midnight to make it a happening place with nightlife. At the moment, this area and its surrounding is very quiet at night. The rest of the shops are reserved for international and local lifestyle retailers,” said the mall’s director Jackson Goh.
He said they had invited major retailers to be their anchor tenants. Among the retailers expected to join the mall are Sen Q electrical, a 10,000 sq feet toy shop that would be the largest in the city, a 6,000 sq feet bookshop, CK Jeans, Mango, Skin Food from Korea, The Body Shop, Famous Amos, Holly Cow Bistro, Marrybrown and many more.
There will also be weekend and monthly events, roadshows and exhibitions for an exciting shopping experience.
Goh was confident the mall would incorporate a lifestyle shopping centre concept.
The crowd is there with annual tourist arrival of 3.6 million with guests from surrounding hotels like Hilton Hotel, Harbour View Hotel, Borneo Hotel, Riverside Hotel and Margherita Hotel, SEGi college students and a large office population from surrounding shops and offices.
The mall can accommodate 610 car parking lots for daytime and night-time.
“We are trying to bring in something new to the city so we want to invite new brands that other shopping malls do not have.
“We want our shoppers to not only experience the biggest shopping mall within the largest shopping district in the State but have more options to shop for products of international brands,” Goh said.
