Working experience and occupation | Dato' Charon is the Chairman of the Export-Import Bank of Malaysia Berhad. He was the Group Managing Director, Malaysian Industrial Development Finance Berhad (MIDF) (2018-2023) and CEO of MIDF Amanah Investment Bank Bhd, and Executive Director of Khazanah Nasional Berhad and the first Managing Director of the Khazanah Research Institute (2013-2018). Between 2003 and 2013 he held various senior positions in CIMB Group, including Deputy Chief Executive Officer, CIMB Group (responsible for Corporate and Investment Banking), Chief Executive Officer of CIMB Investment Bank Berhad and Chairman of CIMB-Principal Asset Management Berhad. He was on the boards of Cagamas Holdings Berhad and the Institute of Bankers Malaysia (now the Asian Institute of Chartered Bankers).He began his career as a pupil barrister in London, then worked as an advocate and solicitor at Shearn Delamore & Co in Kuala Lumpur. He moved into corporate finance at Rashid Hussain Securities before joining Zaid Ibrahim & Co, where he served as a partner and later as Managing Partner from 1994 to 2004. During his time there the firm went from 4 partners to becoming Malaysia's largest law firm with over 100 lawyers.He is on the boards of Yayasan Tuanku Fauziah, Yayasan Tuanku Syed Putra Perlis and the Kuala Lumpur Business Club and was on the board of Universiti Putra Malaysia. |
