How your company can participate in the SLDN/NDTS program
There are many ways of doing it, following are the few common ways that I know of:
1. Apply directly and run the whole 2 years program on your own without involving consultants, FOC (but involves lot’s of paper work and documentation during these 2 years, not mentioning the tedious claiming process.
2. Appoint consultants, which I have so far seen 3 ways too:
(A)Consultant does everything, with syarikat latihan & institut latihan registered under consultant.
Pros: All under consultant, nothing to worry (as they claimed)
Cons:
* Each apprentice got to pay RM 1,800 for the so called compulsory soft skill, which from last year till now, no official letter from JPK and this issue has been brought up by apprentices all the way up to the Minister. Why JPK not taking action on the consultant?
* Certificate issued under consultant’s company name. It’s a disadvantage to the actual syarikat latihan (your company)because even though your company is the one who coaches the apprentices, your company is not duly recognised.
* Your company does not benefit a single cent cause consultant gets all the RM 200 allowance from the government.
(B)Consultant helps you to register as Syarikat latihan, with charges of course (RM 950). Consultant also provides all the LWA, do the claims and whatever documentation needed for the program, charging RM 160/mth/apprentice.
Pros:
* Compared to method (A), Syarikat Latihan (your company) still gets RM 40/mth/apprentice without worrying too much about documentations.
* Certificate would be issued under your company’s name.
* Most important of all, apprentice not required to pay RM 1,800, which has caused a BIG issue in the market.
Cons:Your company still need to pay RM 950 for registration and not able to enjoy the full RM 200/month allowance from the government.
(C)Consultant, with the appointmets like DSE, PP-PPT, PPL etc register, consult and provides documentation for the program. They also claim that YOUR COMPANY IS PROTECTED for the period of 2 years if your company appoint them.
Pros:They are relatively cheaper compared to method (A) & (B) if you have lots of apprentice (because they don’t charge per apprentice like the earlier type of consultant)
Cons:BEWARE! If they just chuck you one side after collecting thousands (ranging from RM 5-8K or even more), you will CRY!!! Worse still, they may or may not refund the money to you after initial deposit (say 50% @ RM 2-4K) paid but for whatever reason, they say JPK rejected their application.
Well, now that you know the few modus operandi, make your decisions wisely. Each has it’s own pros & cons. |
