Great Eastern Aims To Maintain Top Position In Life Insurance

KLANG, Feb 21 (Bernama) -- Great Eastern Life Assurance Bhd aims to maintain its top position in the country's life insurance industry with a market share of 23 percent.
Its director and chief executive officer, Alex Foong Soo Hah, said the company is not far from achieving its vision to be a leading financial service provider in Asia by 2008.
Foong said last year, Great Eastern achieved double-digit growth in total new business premium of about RM809 million, and total assets have grown to RM26 million.
"This achievement is the result of the efforts and commitments of Great Eastern staff and field force," he said at a press conference after the official opening of Wisma Great Eastern Klang, here Tuesday.
The new Klang branch was opened by Deputy Home Affairs Minister Datuk Tan Chai Ho.
In conjunction with the opening, Great Eastern donated RM10,000 to Persatuan Rumah Kids via its charity project called ChildrenCare.
Foong said the company had invested more than RM6 million in the new Wisma Great Eastern to ensure that it has a stronghold in Klang.
"It is also to provide state-of-the-art facilities so that we can provide excellent services to both our field force members and our policy holders," he said.
The five-storey office block in Bandar Baru Klang offers services such as payment of premium, renewal of policies, policy servicing and new business registration.
Great Eastern, established in 1908, has 24 branch offices nationwide and a service network of more than 17,000 agents servicing more than 2.6 million policies in force.

大家是否有想象过,如果你的伴侣刚刚非常投入在直销行业(并没有接触过保险),一心想在直销行业发展。而你又有至少两年的保险行业的经验,你也全心在保险行业,你会怎么办?
是否会发生互相意见冲突之类的东西?? |

哎呀,我觉得应该尽量别让这些公事上的矛盾影响彼此的感情!

其实你们可以把冲突成为强项,你们的客原是两倍哦。每个都需要保险,但也希望自己身体健康长寿。 |

31-07-2006: Great Eastern Life aims to grow market share to 25%
Great Eastern Life Assurance (Malaysia) Bhd is targeting to grow its life insurance premium market share to 25% by year-end from 23% in 2005 by enhancing agent productivity.
Its chief executive officer Alex Foong said the company would continue to find better ways to motivate its agents to do better. "There are no short cuts towards achieving the target.”
“We hope to grow our market share to 25% this year," he told FinancialDaily at the Great Eastern Life's "Going Bald" charity campaign in Kuala Lumpur recently. Some 36 Great Eastern Life staff shaved their heads to raise some RM20,000 for charity.
Foong said the company's total premium income last year rose 10% to RM4.1 billion following growth in sales of investment-linked products.
Its asset size grew to RM26 billion in FY05, an increase of 11% from FY04. In FY05, it declared a one-time special bonus of RM60.2 million to about one million policyholders of regular premium, whole life and endowment plans on or before Dec 31, 2003.
Foong said Great Eastern Life would leverage on its sister companies such as OCBC Bank (Malaysia) Bhd to cross sell products such as fire and health insurance, and even will writing services.
He said Great Eastern Life started the cross selling iniatitives in November last year.
“A very good example is through credit card; we can sell our products through the credit card or even sell insurance under OCBC’s housing loan scheme or even sell insurance though business loans.
“We have a long-term plan to transform our agents to market a full range of financial services products. Some of the products will be supplied within the group, while some of them will be through strategic tie-ups with other service providers,” Foong said.
He said the insurance industry is facing a tough 2006 due to rising interest rates, higher inflation as well as stricter rules from the regulators.
He said among the new guidelines introduced by the regulators include more protection for consumers and the provision of higher quality products.
Foong said insurance companies would need to retrain agents and that would cost them valuable man hours.
Nonetheless, he said the new guidelines are beneficial as it would make the buying of insurance more attractive to consumers. |
