NSP's Statement on the retirement of MM Lee and SM Goh

Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew and Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong have today announced their decision to step down from the Cabinet.

While the National Solidarity Party disagrees with many of the policy directions taken under their respective administrations, we nevertheless want to take this opportunity to pay tribute to their decades of extraordinary service to the country. Despite our disagreements over their policies, we have no doubt that they have always been motivated by what best serves the Republic.

MM Lee is the architect of modern Singapore having skillfully guided the country through its turbulent post-independence years and then transforming it into a First World city within one generation. Under SM Goh’s leadership, not only did Singapore successfully navigate several crises such as the Asian Financial Crisis and the SARS outbreak, but it also emerged from these stronger.

But while we have achieved tremendous prosperity under their leadership, a sense of nationhood – that every Singaporean has a stake in the country and a say in how it is run, has been elusive. We welcome their decision to encourage new, younger voices in their leadership structure. But this renewal must not be limited to the People’s Action Party; it must extend to our political culture with an inclusion of perspectives from outside the Party.

Nation building is not a top-down process. It must be a joint project between the people of Singapore and those whom they elect as their representatives in government. Every generation must be able to decide its present course without fear of its turbulent past. In this regard, we feel that the country is best served by seeing only one Prime Minister at a time. This is why the NSP welcomes the decision of MM Lee and SM Goh to retire from the Cabinet.

In the last General Election, the people of Singapore have demonstrated that they are ready to stand up and take ownership of their country. For now, they have chosen to keep their faith in the leadership of Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and have given him a fresh mandate to govern over the next five years.

We hope that he will reciprocate this trust with a more open and accountable approach to government.  

We hope that his government will tackle the problems of stagnant wages, skyrocketing costs of living, housing that is fast becoming unaffordable to average Singaporeans and infrastructure that is becoming strained due to overpopulation.

We hope that Prime Minister Lee will engage alternative voices in a constructive debate so that we may all seek solutions to our common problems.

Finally, we want to once again join all Singaporeans in thanking MM Lee and SM Goh for their service and wish them a happy retirement.

其实我感觉他们还没醒这样，人民所关心的是薪酬啊。他们不谋其职不得其薪就好。

还有老李没就他对Aljunied Grc选民们，威胁性的言论作出道歉，换句话说那个集选区的选民们等着面对秋后算账吧。

我对部长高薪没意见，其实对很多政府政策也没意见。。。

其实公民大众/顾东们对部长高薪没什么意见，社会文化也不会仇富，也知道只是大选用来对打的借口，因为都能认同国际大公司的总裁级人才都是这样的价码的，最重要就是公司能赚钱能延续

新加坡家長式統治結束 李光耀、吳作棟退出內閣

新加坡執政人民行動黨在一周前的大選慘勝後，正當總理李顯龍籌組新內閣之際，身為國父兼內閣資政的李光耀，昨晚（周六）和國務資政吳作棟突然宣佈不再在新內閣擔任資政，好讓年輕一代領導國家。這標誌李光耀的家長式統治時代結束，李顯龍改革年代來臨。

87歲的李光耀和 69歲的吳作棟，昨晚發表聯合聲明說：「我們研究過（大選後的）新政治局面，也思考了它將如何影響未來。我們已為新加坡的發展作出貢獻，現在是時候讓年輕一代在更困難和複雜的環境下，帶領新加坡繼續前進。」

兩人還形容上周六的大選是「分水嶺」，新一代「除了擁有清廉、用人唯才的政府和高品質生活外，還希望進一步參與影響他們的決定」，因此他們決定離開內閣，令政府「以全面更年輕的部長團隊，與年輕一代聯繫，塑造新加坡的前途」。吳作棟在聲明發表後，在 facebook向選民留言說，他們請辭「令總理可更新他的內閣，以便檢討政策，並以新思維改造新加坡」。

為大選挫敗負責　讓改革來臨

新加坡上周大選，人民行動黨雖然在國會 87席中取得 81席，但反對派工人黨卻史無前例地取得歷來最多的六個議席，拿下阿裕尼集選區，使外長楊榮文等人失去議席。執政黨雖仍保持絕對多數議席地位，但得票率跌至歷來最低的 60%，凸顯執政黨逾半世紀來實施的大家長式統治過時，未能與時並進。因此上周大選是新加坡新舊世代之爭，新一代用選票來表達改革的訴求，李光耀最終為自己那套過時管治手法導致執政黨挫敗負上責任而下台。
李光耀是新加坡首任總理，當了 31年後，吳作棟接任做了 14年總理，但李光耀一直退而不休，在內閣出任資政繼續影響朝政，雖然兩人為新加坡創造經濟神話，但奉行家長式專制統治，打壓言論和政治自由，加上新加坡樓價飆升、通脹高企，貧富懸殊越來越嚴重，移民湧入搶當地人飯碗，令社會積聚怨氣，紛紛用選票來表達不滿。

要照顧舊一代的利益

但李光耀在選前仍未意識到互聯網世代的不滿和力量，還批評青年是「無拘無束一代」，對國家沒承擔，警告選民若讓反對派在阿裕尼集選區勝出，將會「有五年好受」。
這番言論引起反彈，執政黨黨員紛紛跟李光耀劃清界線，連李顯龍也補鑊說這是個人言論，並指「李光耀的強硬領導風格未必是新一代新加坡人所能接受，這是個不同世代之間的差別，也是內閣資政與他的團隊、我和我的團隊，以及你父母和你之間不同世代的分別」，而他將會以人們能接受的方式治國。
李光耀與吳作棟不再擔任內閣資政，標誌舊一代的強硬領導風格已經在新加坡失去光環，但寄語年輕領導班子必須照顧老一代的利益，而兩人仍留任國會議員，就是要保障舊一代的利益。

1985　任新加坡第一副總理兼國防部長
1990　接替李光耀當總理
2004　接替李光耀當國務資政
2011　宣佈辭去國務資政職務

这是５２年来，新加坡人第一次醒来在一个＂无老李在内阁＂的年代，老李象征着稳定；就像 Vincent Wijeysingha 所说 "Singapore is at a crossroad, significantly at a crossroad..."

买屋子只是一种选择；他/她可以选公寓，或靠近中心的五房式，发觉自己买不起而“哭父哭母”。或先买间三房式，或四房式，等到自己的收入更高的时候，才提升到另一个环境。


HDB肯定会有个饱和点，因为她无法拿来投资。
