After martial arts display, anti-Bersih group to train with parang

After a martial arts display in front of the Sogo shopping mall in Kuala Lumpur yesterday, the anti-Bersih group led by Umno division chief Jamal Yunos will train with machetes (parang) and swords tonight.
"There will be a closed door training for our members tonight and they will use parang and swords for self-defence," he told The Star Online.
Yesterday, the group broke tiles and wood outside the mall as its members prepared to confront the Bersih 4 protesters over the weekend.
Jamal reiterated he would mobilise some 30,000 people from over 200 NGOs to pressure Bersih to cancel its Aug 29-30 overnight rally.
"We will call off our gathering, if they call off theirs," he said.
"We will not initiate violence unless we are attacked by the 'yellow' (Bersih) team, then our people in red will be able to defend themselves," he said, adding that the previous Bersih rallies were violent.
Jamal (photo) said Bersih participants should adhere to the police order to move the rally to an indoor stadium.
"They can do it at the stadiums, like the Shah Alam Stadium or Stadium Titiwangsa. No one will make an issue out of that," he was quoted as saying.
Donning red t-shirts, the group would gather at Low Yat Mall in Bukit Bintang, which recently witnessed a riot, at 9am on Saturday.
From there, they would march to Dataran Merdeka along Jalan Pudu at 10am.
Dataran Merdeka is also Bersih 4's final gathering venue.
One of the main points of the Bersih 4 rally, which the authorities had declared illegal, is to press for Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's resignation.
